cookbook-add-recipeAdds or extends a ScottPlot Cookbook recipe for a given plottable, in the right PlotTypes category and in the style of neighboring recipes.
Given an `IPlottable`, the agent reads its public API, searches the existing PlotTypes recipes and reads the adjacent ones for style, then adds a nested `RecipeBase` to a matching category or creates a new `ICategory` file in `Recipes/PlotTypes`. A new category uses the `ScottPlotCookbook.Recipes.PlotTypes` namespace, sets the chapter to PlotTypes and starts with a single quickstart recipe. If no plottable is named, the agent asks before editing anything.
Examples stay minimal and deterministic: prefer the `myPlot.Add.*()` APIs and `Generate` data, and skip extra titles, labels, legends, limits, styling, comments, refactors and cleanup. Plottables live under `src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5/Plottables` and recipes under the cookbook project. Validation runs the cookbook tests filtered to `RecipeTests` with `dotnet test`, or the whole cookbook project when the new recipe has to render, and the agent reports the command and its result.

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

ScottPlot Cookbook Recipe loads about 384 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 46 tokens; SKILL.md has 125 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Paths: plottables in src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5/Plottables; recipes in src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5 Cookbook/Recipes/PlotTypes.
Fast path:
RecipeBase to an existing category, or create a matching ICategory file in Recipes/PlotTypes.rg "class .*:.*IPlottable|class TARGET" src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5
rg "TARGET|CategoryName =>" "src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5 Cookbook/Recipes/PlotTypes"New category basics: namespace ScottPlotCookbook.Recipes.PlotTypes, implement ICategory, Chapter => Chapter.PlotTypes, one quickstart recipe unless the requested behavior needs something else. Prefer myPlot.Add.*() APIs and deterministic Generate data. Avoid unnecessary titles, labels, legends, limits, styling, comments, refactors, or cleanup.
Validation:
dotnet test "src/ScottPlot5/ScottPlot5 Cookbook/ScottPlot Cookbook.csproj" --filter "FullyQualifiedName~RecipeTests"If the new recipe must render during validation, run the cookbook project without the filter. Report the command and result.

ScottPlot Cookbook Recipe fits situations like: documenting a new ScottPlot plot type with a cookbook example; extending an existing recipe category with another plottable; checking that a new recipe passes the cookbook tests.
Run `npx skills add ScottPlot/ScottPlot --skill cookbook-add-recipe -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/cookbook-add-recipe in ScottPlot/ScottPlot) into .claude/skills/cookbook-add-recipe in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add ScottPlot/ScottPlot --skill cookbook-add-recipe -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/cookbook-add-recipe, .gemini/skills/cookbook-add-recipe, .github/skills/cookbook-add-recipe and .opencode/skills/cookbook-add-recipe in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, ScottPlot Cookbook Recipe needs the command-line tools its instructions call (rg and dotnet). Our summary lists: A ScottPlot repository checkout; The dotnet CLI to run the cookbook tests.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
ScottPlot Cookbook Recipe is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 384 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
