simplifySimplify code and reduce repository-wide redundancy while preserving behavior.
Simplify is an agent skill from Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk. Simplify code and reduce repository-wide redundancy while preserving behavior. Use after implementation or when asked to refactor, remove dead or duplicate code, reduce code volume, flatten complexity, or audit a repository for unnecessary abstractions and compatibility paths.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.3k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Code simplification. It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: A Unicode canvas for humans and AI. Draw diagrams, interfaces, and slides as editable text. The licence is MIT.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 26bb711. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Simplify loads about 1.3k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 72 tokens; SKILL.md has 625 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk at commit 26bb711, republished under its MIT licence (© Sayhi-bzb). 625 words, ~1,258 tokens.
.claude/skills/simplify/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Improve clarity and reduce unnecessary code. Treat fewer lines as a useful outcome, not the objective: prefer explicit, maintainable code over dense or clever code.
AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, and relevant nested instructions before analyzing code. Treat those files as the source of project conventions; do not assume generic style rules override them.git status and preserve unrelated or pre-existing worktree changes.Look for:
Do not collapse distinct responsibilities, remove useful boundaries, introduce nested ternaries or dense one-liners, or trade debuggability for a lower line count.
Use the repository's configured tools when available, and confirm their findings in source and tests:
ast-grep --lang <language> -p '<pattern>' for syntax-shaped searches, repeated structures, and structural transformations.Treat graph and language-server results as navigation evidence, not proof by absence. If an index is stale, follow the repository's re-indexing instructions. If Serena or GitNexus is unavailable or incomplete, continue conservatively and do not interpret missing references as proof that deletion is safe.
Assign every candidate to one class:
Apply the cleanup directly only when source, references, contracts, and tests support preserving all observable behavior. Typical examples include exact duplicate logic, unreachable private branches, and unused private symbols with no dynamic or generated references.
Do not edit candidates that appear low risk but may change edge behavior. Report the evidence, uncertainty, affected surface, proposed deletion, and expected reduction, then wait for explicit user approval. This includes obsolete-looking compatibility paths, defensive fallbacks, lifecycle hooks, and symbols that might have external consumers.
Leave high-risk or insufficiently understood code unchanged. Record the evidence needed to reconsider it when that is useful.
Never delete or alter an export, public API, protocol field, plugin or framework entry point, configuration-driven path, migration, compatibility shim, or reflection/dynamic-loading target solely because no local semantic reference is found.
Summarize:
Document only decisions that help a reviewer understand the safety or intent of the simplification.

Simplify code and reduce repository-wide redundancy while preserving behavior. Simplify is an agent skill from Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk. Simplify code and reduce repository-wide redundancy while preserving behavior.
Simplify fits situations like: tasks that involve Code simplification.
Run `npx skills add Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk --skill simplify -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/simplify in Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk) into .claude/skills/simplify in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk --skill simplify -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/simplify in Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk) into .agents/skills/simplify in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Sayhi-bzb/CharDesk --skill simplify -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/simplify, .gemini/skills/simplify, .github/skills/simplify and .opencode/skills/simplify in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Simplify needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Simplify is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
