release-rome-imageRelease a new Rome runtime image by pushing a vX.Y.Z tag — pick the version, verify main is releasable, push the tag, and confirm the image published to Docker Hub.
Release Rome Image is an agent skill from rome-os/rome. Release a new Rome runtime image by pushing a vX.Y.Z tag — pick the version, verify main is releasable, push the tag, and confirm the image published to Docker Hub. Covers the v runtime-image tag only, not the desktop app (desktop-v) and not npm packages (ui-v, app-runtime-v).
Its SKILL.md is about 910 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Containers. It works with Docker and npm. The repository describes itself as: A compounding agent OS for recursive agents. Also an open source alternative to Grok Bot and Meta's Muse. The licence is MIT.
4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ccf62e7. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
gitghcurljqFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
hub.docker.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Release Rome Image loads about 910 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 78 tokens; SKILL.md has 404 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from rome-os/rome at commit ccf62e7, republished under its MIT licence (© rome-os). 404 words, ~910 tokens.
.claude/skills/release-rome-image/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).A pushed vX.Y.Z tag is the release. .github/workflows/docker-publish.yml builds the multi-arch image and publishes it to yunfanye/rome, with no approval gate between the push and Docker Hub. Get explicit confirmation before the push. Verify the published image after it.
The tagging contract covering the semver gate, tag immutability, and latest movement lives in docs/releases.md.
desktop-v* tag and a separate pipeline. The tag lands on origin/main, and docker-publish.yml runs no CI gate of its own.
Read the commit that the tag will point at.
git fetch origin --tags && git rev-parse origin/mainList the recent CI runs.
gh run list --branch main --workflow CI --limit 5Find the run for the exact commit from step 1 and confirm the status is success. CI cancels superseded runs, so a rapid series of merges leaves cancelled runs on real commits. If the run failed, was cancelled, or is still running, stop and report it.
Confirm no release is already in flight.
gh run list --workflow "Docker Hub Publish" --limit 3Read the current stable tags.
git tag --list 'v[0-9]*' | sort -V | tail -5For a patch release, use the helper in step 3. The helper computes the next patch version.
For a minor or major release, take the version from the user.
For a prerelease, use vX.Y.Z-rc.N. A prerelease publishes its own docker tag and never moves latest.
Two constraints decide the number. A published version is immutable, so re-pushing a released version fails and the fix for a bad release is the next version up. latest moves only when the new version is the highest stable version in the registry.
For a patch release:
Print the planned tag and target commit.
scripts/dev/create-patch-release-tag.sh --dry-runShow that output to the user and wait for an explicit yes.
Create and push the tag, which starts the publish.
scripts/dev/create-patch-release-tag.shThe user can also click Run workflow on main in the Actions tab instead. That run allocates the same next patch version and checks CI itself.
For a minor, major, or prerelease version, the helper does not apply, because it bumps the patch version only. Confirm the version with the user, then tag origin/main directly.
git tag -a v1.1.0 origin/main -m "Release v1.1.0" && git push origin refs/tags/v1.1.0Watch the run to completion.
gh run watch "$(gh run list --workflow "Docker Hub Publish" --limit 1 --json databaseId --jq '.[0].databaseId')"Confirm the version reached the registry.
curl -fsSL "https://hub.docker.com/v2/repositories/yunfanye/rome/tags?page_size=20" | jq -r '.results[].name'Report the published version, whether latest moved, and the build SHA. A running instance reports the baked version at /api/build-info.

Release Rome Image is an agent skill from rome-os/rome.Z tag — pick the version, verify main is releasable, push the tag, and confirm the image published to Docker Hub.
Release Rome Image fits situations like: tasks that involve Containers.
Run `npx skills add rome-os/rome --skill release-rome-image -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/release-rome-image in rome-os/rome) into .claude/skills/release-rome-image in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add rome-os/rome --skill release-rome-image -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/release-rome-image in rome-os/rome) into .agents/skills/release-rome-image in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add rome-os/rome --skill release-rome-image -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/release-rome-image, .gemini/skills/release-rome-image, .github/skills/release-rome-image and .opencode/skills/release-rome-image in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Release Rome Image needs the command-line tools its instructions call (git, gh, curl and jq). Our summary lists: Docker.
SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: hub.docker.com; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Release Rome Image is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 910 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
