fixing-ciA skill your agent uses when CI is failing on a branch and you need to diagnose failures from GitHub, fix them locally with iterative verification, and re-push clean commits.
Fixing CI is an agent skill from ReviewStage/stage-cli. Use when CI is failing on a branch and you need to diagnose failures from GitHub, fix them locally with iterative verification, and re-push clean commits.
Its SKILL.md is about 980 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development. It works with GitHub and pnpm. The repository describes itself as: A viewer for reviewing local code changes in small individual chapters. Works with any AI agent. The licence is MIT.
4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 59b977b. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pnpmgitghFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pnpm, git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Fixing CI loads about 977 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 41 tokens; SKILL.md has 409 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from ReviewStage/stage-cli at commit 59b977b, republished under its MIT licence (© ReviewStage). 409 words, ~977 tokens.
.claude/skills/fixing-ci/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Diagnose failing CI from GitHub logs, fix each issue with an atomic commit, and iterate locally until the full suite is green — then push once.
Principle: One fix, one commit. Never push until all checks pass locally.
1. DIAGNOSE → Pull failure logs from GitHub, list all failures
2. For each failure:
a. REPRODUCE → Run the failing check locally to confirm you see it
b. FIX → Fix root cause (not downstream symptoms)
c. VERIFY FIX → Re-run the check to confirm it passes
d. COMMIT → Atomic commit for this fix
3. VERIFY ALL → Run the full suite locally
↳ If anything fails → go back to step 2
↳ All green → proceed
4. PUSH → Push all commits# See recent CI runs on current branch
gh run list --branch $(git branch --show-current) --limit 5
# View failing run (find run-id from above)
gh run view <run-id>
# Stream logs from only the failed steps
gh run view <run-id> --log-failedRead top-to-bottom and list all distinct failures before fixing any of them. Find the first error in each job — not symptoms that cascade from it.
Check the project's AGENTS.md for exact commands. Common mappings:
| CI Job | Typical Local Command |
|---|---|
| Lint | pnpm lint |
| Typecheck | pnpm typecheck |
| Tests | pnpm test |
| Build | pnpm build |
Run the failing check and confirm you see the same error locally before touching code.
Re-run the specific check to confirm it passes before committing.
git add -p # Review every hunk before staging
git commit -m "fix: <what broke>" # Specific message, not "fix CI"Use git add -p to catch accidental debug code or unrelated changes. Then loop back to the next failure.
After all individual fixes are committed, run the full suite:
# Run all checks (adapt to project — check AGENTS.md)
pnpm lint && pnpm typecheck && pnpm test && pnpm buildIf anything fails here, go back to step 2. A fix in one area can break another. Do not push until this full pass is clean.
Only push once the full suite is green locally:
git pushSTOP here. Do not poll GitHub to check if CI passed remotely. Local verification is sufficient — if all checks pass locally, the push is done. Only revisit if the user explicitly reports CI is still failing, then start from Step 1 with the new run ID.
gh run list, gh run watch, or any GitHub polling after pushing. Local green = done.git add . — use git add -p to review and avoid committing debug code© ReviewStage, MIT. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

Run `npx skills add ReviewStage/stage-cli --skill fixing-ci -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/fixing-ci in ReviewStage/stage-cli) into .claude/skills/fixing-ci in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add ReviewStage/stage-cli --skill fixing-ci -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/fixing-ci in ReviewStage/stage-cli) into .agents/skills/fixing-ci in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add ReviewStage/stage-cli --skill fixing-ci -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/fixing-ci, .gemini/skills/fixing-ci, .github/skills/fixing-ci and .opencode/skills/fixing-ci in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Fixing CI needs the command-line tools its instructions call (pnpm, git and gh).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git and gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Fixing CI is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 977 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
