time-energy-managementHelp users master their personal output by shifting from reactive scheduling to intentional energy management, internal trigger mastery, and proactive boundary setting.
Time Energy Management is an agent skill from RefoundAI/lenny-skills. Help users master their personal output by shifting from reactive scheduling to intentional energy management, internal trigger mastery, and proactive boundary setting.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.6k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files, including reference files (for example `references/artifacts.md` and `references/guest-insights.md`).
It sits in Productivity & Automation. The repository describes itself as: 86 product management skills from Lenny's Podcast for Claude Code and AI agents. Hiring, user research, strategy, shipping, and more. The licence is MIT.
4 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 13598cc. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Time Energy Management loads about 1.6k tokens when it runs, and up to ~51k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 48 tokens; SKILL.md has 967 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from RefoundAI/lenny-skills at commit 13598cc, republished under its MIT licence (© RefoundAI). 967 words, ~1,574 tokens.

Help the user with time and energy management using insights from 25 guests and posts across Lenny's Podcast and Newsletter.
Alex Komoroske: "And I take a lot of notes. And people, I tell people when I'm in meetings with them of like, 'If you see me on my phone or typing, that means I think you said something very interesting and I'm writing it down. It's not that I'm just that I'm disengaged. I try to collect all these ideas.' And then once a week, I go through, I take a few hours and I just reflect to myself and try to find patterns and unpack and find meaning and things."
Dedicating deliberate time to synthesize raw notes transforms fleeting observations into durable strategic insights. This practice prevents the loss of valuable context and builds a library of institutional knowledge.
Dr. Becky Kennedy: "Boundaries are what you tell someone else you will do, and it requires the other person to do nothing. Making a request, that's not a boundary."
Boundaries are defined by your own planned actions and do not rely on another person's agreement to be effective. Clearly distinguish between making a request of others and setting a firm boundary for yourself.
Jake Knapp + John Zeratsky: "The notion with the highlight is imagine it's the end of the day if someone asks you, 'What was the highlight of your day,' what would you say? That's the anchor of everything. That's the core, that's the foundation."
Intentionality starts with selecting a single focal point for your day to act as an anchor for your time. This ensures that you accomplish at least one meaningful thing regardless of how many small tasks arise.
Joe Hudson: "If you say, I'm going to figure out how to enjoy what I do 10% more and you succeed, you are 10% more efficient. Not only that, usually, the quality is going to get a lot better too."
Increasing your enjoyment of a task by just 10 percent leads to a direct increase in both efficiency and output quality. Focus on finding ways to enjoy current work rather than waiting for external circumstances to change.
Nir Eyal: "The problem is not our technology. The problem is our inability to deal with discomfort. So, what I have adopted for myself and what I'd advise anyone who finds themselves in this situation is to always identify what is that internal trigger, what is that itch that you are looking to escape when you get distracted, because that is the source of 90% of our distractions."
Distraction is primarily an internal emotional struggle to escape discomfort rather than a failure caused by technology. You must identify the specific internal trigger or uncomfortable emotion you are trying to avoid when you feel the urge to get distracted.
Rachel Lockett: "When people are in their gifts and their strengths, they have more energy. We all have more energy when we're operating from the things we naturally are good at."
Aligning daily work with your natural strengths is the most effective way to sustain high energy and prevent long-term burnout. Take full ownership of navigating your career toward activities that match your inherent gifts.
From "How a traumatic brain injury made me a better PM—and person": "The frame of viewing my calendar as a tool for energy management was a game changer. I had to systematically think through how to manage energy troughs and maintain the right levels of energy across the week."
Effective time management requires treating your calendar as a battery management system for your energy rather than just a list of tasks. Map your energy fluctuations to identify recurring killers and limit back-to-back taxing meetings.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Time Energy Management is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

About 1.6k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 6.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 50k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
