What it does

Debugging is an agent skill from rapidaai/voice-ai. Diagnose regressions, failing tests, runtime errors, and unexpected behavior before applying a fix. Use when the cause is unknown or when a proposed fix has not been tied to a reproducible failure.

Its SKILL.md is about 560 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 4 other files (for example `agents/openai.yaml` and `examples/sample.md`).

It sits in Development, covering Speech recognition and synthesis, Debugging and Failing and flaky tests. The repository describes itself as: Rapida is an open-source, end-to-end voice AI orchestration platform for building real-time conversational voice agents with audio streaming, STT, TTS, VAD, multi-channel…

Workflow steps

8 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Record expected behavior, actual behavior, environment, and the smallest known reproduction.
  2. Reproduce the failure with the narrowest command that exercises the real path.
  3. Trace ownership and state from the first incorrect observation backward to the responsible boundary.
  4. Form one falsifiable hypothesis. State what evidence would confirm or reject it.
  5. Run the smallest safe check that discriminates that hypothesis.
  6. Repeat one hypothesis at a time until the root cause explains all observed evidence.
  7. Add a regression test and watch it fail for the expected reason before changing behavior.
  8. Apply the smallest fix at the owning layer, then run focused and fallback-path verification.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3c9caac. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Debugging loads about 564 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 52 tokens; SKILL.md has 287 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~52
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~564

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

SKILL.md

Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 287 words (~564 tokens).

“Produce a reproducible explanation of the failure, then prove the smallest correct fix with a regression test.”

Questions about Debugging

What does Debugging do?

Diagnose regressions, failing tests, runtime errors, and unexpected behavior before applying a fix. Debugging is an agent skill from rapidaai/voice-ai. Diagnose regressions, failing tests, runtime errors, and unexpected behavior before applying a fix.

When should I use Debugging?

Debugging fits situations like: the cause is unknown; A proposed fix has not been tied to a reproducible failure.

How do I install Debugging in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add rapidaai/voice-ai --skill debugging -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.codex/skills/debugging in rapidaai/voice-ai) into .claude/skills/debugging in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Debugging in Codex?

Run `npx skills add rapidaai/voice-ai --skill debugging -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.codex/skills/debugging in rapidaai/voice-ai) into .agents/skills/debugging in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Debugging in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add rapidaai/voice-ai --skill debugging -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/debugging, .gemini/skills/debugging, .github/skills/debugging and .opencode/skills/debugging in your project.

What does Debugging need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Debugging is instructions for the agent only.

Does Debugging access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Debugging safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Debugging use?

Debugging has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.

How many tokens does Debugging use?

About 564 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Debugging?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Debugging: Systematic Debugging (ultralisp/ultralisp, 258 stars), Exposed Bug Fix Workflow (JetBrains/Exposed, 9.3k stars), React Router Bug Fix Workflow (remix-run/react-router, 57k stars) and Systematic Debugging (ChrisWiles/claude-code-showcase, 6.1k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
