quranLooks up Quran verses, chapters and juz in Arabic with English, Urdu and Hindi translations through a local Node.js and SQLite module.
This skill gives the agent a local interface to the Quran through a bundled npm module backed by SQLite. It can fetch Arabic text and translations in English, Urdu and Hindi, and query by chapter (surah), verse (ayah), juz or text search, covering single verses, ranges, arrays of verses and whole chapters.
The JavaScript API has get for Arabic text, select for filtered queries with offset, limit and language options, chapter for metadata on one chapter or all 114, juz for the boundaries of juz 1 to 30, and search for a text match in a chosen translation. The database ships Arabic in the Uthmani script, the Sahih International English translation, and Urdu and Hindi. The skill also explains how to link it into the Claude skills folder.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5ab4b13. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
BashReadFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
nodeghFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Quran Lookup loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 49 tokens; SKILL.md has 307 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Bash, ReadAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from qzaidi/quran at commit 5ab4b13, republished under its CC-BY-4.0 licence (© qzaidi). 307 words, ~1,080 tokens.

It can fetch Arabic text and translations in English, Urdu and Hindi, and query by chapter (surah), verse (ayah), juz or text search, covering single verses, ranges, arrays of verses and whole chapters.
Quran Lookup fits situations like: fetching a specific verse or range of verses with a translation; reading a full chapter in Arabic and English; finding verses that mention a word in a chosen translation; looking up chapter metadata or the start of a juz.
Run `npx skills add qzaidi/quran --skill quran -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/quran in qzaidi/quran) into .claude/skills/quran in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add qzaidi/quran --skill quran -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/quran in qzaidi/quran) into .agents/skills/quran in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add qzaidi/quran --skill quran -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/quran, .gemini/skills/quran, .github/skills/quran and .opencode/skills/quran in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Quran Lookup needs the command-line tools its instructions call (node and gh). Our summary lists: Node.js with the local quran npm module and its SQLite database. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Bash, Read.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Quran Lookup is published under the CC-BY-4.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
