About this skill

Changelog is a skill in quests-org/quests (464 stars). Its SKILL.md is about 596 tokens. Licence: Apache-2.0.

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Use git to look for the most recent tagged non-beta version.
  2. If the most recent commit doesn't have a tag, use it as the current version.
  3. Find the previous version.
  4. Inspect the content of any larger commits.
  5. Generate a change log for that based on the style of a few of these example change logs down below.
  6. Return the results in a markdown code block.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c544a83. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Changelog loads about 596 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 11 tokens; SKILL.md has 96 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~11
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~596

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Guidelines

  • Don't include verbatim commit messages.
  • Write copy for a general audience.
  • Only include the "Features" and "Bug Fixes" sections.

Example 1

markdown
## Features

- **Chat mode** has landed! Switch between building apps and chatting with the agent.
- **Projects page** with table view - delete, stop, and manage all your projects in one place.
- Recent projects displayed on new tab.
- Copy button for pre blocks in Markdown.
- Use new projects page for eval viewing.
- Incorporate upstream error messages for multiple matches.

## Bug Fixes

- Full width assistant messages always, and copy button for single line code too.
- Support navigation API even on root pages like not found.
- Remove redundant app type in tab title.
- Remove more markdown in titles.
- Attempt to avoid race condition during project deletion due to session abort.
- Make command/ctrl + r work everywhere unless disabled.
- Disallow creation of session db during entire deletion process.
- Better handle ripgrep arguments.
- Animated stop icon in proper places.

Example 2

markdown
## 🧬 Features

- Evals have landed!
- A couple clicks and you can compare rich output from as many models and apps you desire.
- Built-in prompts for standard eval apps and some goofy ones too.
- Suport fo custom eval prompts.
- Dedicated runs page with bulk actions.

## 🩹 Bug Fixes

- Linux: Fixed DBus safe storage issues by setting up direct DBus communication.
- Workspace: Ensured runtime starts when agent session spawns to prevent missing dependencies.
- AI Gateway: Fixed handling of `:latest` style model names (e.g., `gpt-oss:latest`).
- Workspace: Blocked `pnpm dev`, `pnpm start`, and `pnpm run` variants since Quests already manages app lifecycle.

Questions about Changelog

How do I install Changelog in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add quests-org/quests --skill changelog -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.cursor/skills/changelog in quests-org/quests) into .claude/skills/changelog in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Changelog in Codex?

Run `npx skills add quests-org/quests --skill changelog -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.cursor/skills/changelog in quests-org/quests) into .agents/skills/changelog in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Changelog in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add quests-org/quests --skill changelog -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/changelog, .gemini/skills/changelog, .github/skills/changelog and .opencode/skills/changelog in your project.

What does Changelog need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Changelog is instructions for the agent only.

Does Changelog access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Changelog safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Changelog use?

Changelog is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Changelog use?

About 596 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.

What are the alternatives to Changelog?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Changelog: Commit (manhpham90vn/Deskhub, 133 stars), Release Notes (MikalaiBarysevich/CleverSwitch, 116 stars), Neru Create PR (y3owk1n/neru, 793 stars) and Releasing Blanc (bnfy/blanc, 114 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Changelog?

quests-org (a GitHub organization) maintains it in quests-org/quests, which has 464 GitHub stars. The repository holds 2 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on April 7, 2026.
