What it does

Livermore is an agent skill from questflowai/investorskills. Use when evaluating trend-following trades, pivotal-point breakouts, pyramiding, stop discipline, or whether a liquid market is acting right in a Jesse Livermore style.

Its SKILL.md is about 670 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 1 other file (for example `invest.md`).

The repository describes itself as: Investor Skills is an open-source library that turns durable investing judgment into portable, structured formats. It collects how great investors think, filter opportunities… The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Evaluating trend-following trades
  • Pivotal-point breakouts
  • Stop discipline
  • Whether a liquid market is acting right in a Jesse Livermore style

Example prompts

  • “/livermore”

Workflow steps

7 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Decide whether the market has a clear line of least resistance.
  2. Identify the pivotal point or breakout level.
  3. Check volume, follow-through, and whether price holds the breakout.
  4. Reject the trade if it is late, extended, choppy, or illiquid.
  5. Define entry, stop, first add point, max add count, and invalidation.
  6. Size from risk first, not from excitement.
  7. If already in the trade, decide whether to hold, add, trim, or exit.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2844d78. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Livermore loads about 667 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 45 tokens; SKILL.md has 321 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~45
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~667

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Livermore Breakout

Use this skill to apply Jesse Livermore-style trend following: wait for a clear line of least resistance, enter only near pivotal points, add only after the market confirms, and cut losses quickly.

When To Use

Use this skill when the user asks for:

  • A buyable breakout or pivotal-point read
  • Trend-following trade planning
  • Pyramiding rules for a winning position
  • Stop placement and invalidation for a momentum trade
  • A pass/fail judgment on whether price action is acting right

Trigger phrases include Livermore, breakout, pivotal point, line of least resistance, pyramid, acting right, and cut losses.

Do Not Use When

  • The asset is illiquid or cannot be exited cleanly.
  • The user wants long-term business-quality underwriting.
  • The market is rangebound and no clear trend or pivotal point exists.
  • The user asks to average down into a losing trade.

Inputs Needed

  • Asset, ticker, or market
  • Timeframe: daily, weekly, or intraday
  • Recent OHLCV, breakout level, support level, and volume
  • Current position size and average cost if already owned
  • Account risk limit if sizing is requested

Process

Guardrails

  • Do not average down.
  • Do not anticipate a breakout before confirmation.
  • Do not add unless the prior entry is profitable.
  • Do not widen stops to avoid being wrong.
  • Do not force a trade in a dull, trendless market.

Questflow Use

In Questflow, this skill is best used as an execution-ready trend module: detect breakouts, propose risk-defined entries, monitor whether price is acting right, and enforce stop discipline across connected venues.
