export-ml-notebookConvert a jupytext percent %% Python file into an executed .ipynb with cell outputs.
Export ML Notebook is an agent skill from probabl-ai/skills. Convert a jupytext percent %% Python file into an executed .ipynb with cell outputs. Pass --html when the notebook should also become a viewer on the site. Trigger on notebook, ipynb, HTML, or executed-report requests, or when export-ml-project dispatches notebooks.
Its SKILL.md is about 1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `evals/evals.json`).
It sits in Data & Analytics, covering Jupyter notebooks. It works with Jupyter, Python and Matplotlib. The repository describes itself as: Tabular Data Science Skills for guardrailing AI Agents. The licence is BSD-3-Clause.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5edc7a4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pythonuvgitFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use uv and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Export ML Notebook loads about 1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 73 tokens; SKILL.md has 512 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from probabl-ai/skills at commit 5edc7a4, republished under its BSD-3-Clause licence (© probabl-ai). 512 words, ~1,016 tokens.
.claude/skills/export-ml-notebook/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Source of truth stays the # %% .py. This skill only writes
derived .ipynb (and optional .nb.html). Do not rewrite the
.py from the notebook. cells run is not a substitute.
Details: setup-workspace references/human_facing_prose.md.
Tell the user the written .ipynb (and HTML viewer) paths. Do
not quote notebook convert, --html, or site build as
something they should run.
While policy.notebooks is true, explore-ml-data converts the
analysis file it wrote. model-ml-pipeline and
evaluate-ml-pipeline convert the experiment script and, when
it exists, audit/<stem>.py. audit-ml-pipeline converts
audit/<stem>.py only on a direct close. This skill owns
on-demand conversions, other sources, and turning the flag on
when it is null or false.
python -m skore_skills status. Read policy.notebooks and
skills.
If policy.notebooks is null: persist
python -m skore_skills policy set notebooks true. Do not
AskUserQuestion. Then load add-python-package for jupytext,
nbclient, and ipywidgets (agent) and continue.
If policy.notebooks is false: say executed notebooks are
off; offer to turn them on. Do not convert until the policy
is true.
Convert the requested percent file (default data_analysis/data_analysis.py when
the user did not name one):
python -m skore_skills notebook convert data_analysis/data_analysis.pyConvert injects %matplotlib inline for the kernel run so
seaborn / matplotlib last expressions emit image/png, then
strips that setup cell from the written notebook. Do not put
%matplotlib inline in the .py (style / ruff would reject
it).
If convert fails because ipywidgets is missing, load
add-python-package for it (agent) and convert again. Missing
jupytext / nbclient / nbconvert stays a one-line skip.
If the user wants the executed notebook on the site, load
add-python-package for nbconvert (agent) and pass --html
(writes a self-contained <stem>.nb.html next to the .py).
The site embeds that file in the associated exploratory data
analysis or design report
with open-separately and fullscreen controls.
Optional --out path.ipynb. Keep *.ipynb gitignored unless
the user asks setup-git to track them.
Convert-only requests (executed notebook / ipynb / convert,
no HTML or site viewer): run only that notebook convert
line, with no --html. Tell the user the written .ipynb
path. Do not mention --html or site build as an optional
aside.
After --html, if policy.site is true, export-ml-site
is installed, run python -m skore_skills site build so the
viewer is packaged. Run --html and site build only
when the user asked for HTML or a site viewer. Convert
without --html does not rebuild the site. Skip in one line
otherwise. If site build errors with mkdocs-material is required, load add-python-package for mkdocs-material
(agent) and build once more. Do not pixi add / uv add.
If that skill is missing, or the retry still fails, name the
error in one line. Name a build error; do not fail the
convert. Point the user at the HTML viewer / report.html,
not the CLI.
git commit or git end-turn.cells run as a substitute for convert.pixi add / uv add; load add-python-package.--html or python -m skore_skills site build
unless the user asked for HTML or a site viewer. Tell the user

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Export ML Notebook needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python, uv and git). Our summary lists: Python 3.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use uv and git, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Export ML Notebook is published under the BSD-3-Clause licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
