Fix Issue is an agent skill from PrefectHQ/fastmcp. Carry a selected FastMCP bug from reproduction through a scoped fix, compatibility review, validation, and a monitored pull request.
Its SKILL.md is about 840 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Pull requests and MCP servers. It works with Model Context Protocol and Python. The repository describes itself as: 🚀 The fast, Pythonic way to build MCP servers and clients. The licence is Apache-2.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 5baeacf. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Fix Issue loads about 842 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 36 tokens; SKILL.md has 422 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from PrefectHQ/fastmcp at commit 5baeacf, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© PrefectHQ). 422 words, ~842 tokens.
.claude/skills/fix-issue/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Read AGENTS.md and the contribution policy in the development guide. Read the issue's full discussion, relevant history, and associated PRs in all states. Evaluate existing contributions before writing a competing fix; use review-issue when assignment is the next decision. Preserve contributor authorship when carrying existing work forward.
Trace the public request to the failing operation. Confirm supported behavior is broken, not merely surprising. State the scope and compatibility boundary before implementation: which inputs must change, which adjacent behavior must remain, and any migration needed. If the intended contract is unresolved, bring that precise question to the maintainer.
Use python-tests. Reproduce the failure on unchanged code, confirm it fails for the right reason, then make the smallest causal fix. Test explicit overrides and neighboring supported paths that share the changed branch. Avoid expanding the fix to unrelated standards gaps.
Self-review the full change with review-pr, including docs and dependency bounds. Separate necessary compatibility changes from accidental regressions and say whether a breaking change remains. Do not infer compatibility from passing tests.
Run the repository's required dependency sync, full tests, and static checks before committing. Honor branch and attribution conventions. If a required check fails, investigate and report evidence rather than hiding the failure.
Within existing authorization, update the existing PR or open a focused one, using draft status when appropriate. Follow repository PR-body conventions and the user's pr-body skill when available. Describe the actual user-visible change and any migration, not the development diary.
For a maintainer implementation of a community issue, apply Contributor credit before committing and publishing. Read the issue author's GitHub profile to establish their account identity; prefer the GitHub-provided noreply address, and ask if identity is unclear. Add their Co-authored-by: Name <email> trailer to the implementation commit and at the end of the PR description, alongside existing contributor attribution. Reporting the problem is enough; do not require code or root-cause analysis. Honor opt-outs and do not credit bot accounts as human issue contributors.
Maintainers are generally exempt from supplemental credit checks. For maintainer reports and routine backports, preserve existing community attribution and proceed; do not add a maintainer merely because they opened the original PR or ask for guidance on that basis. A backport does not need a fresh credit audit.
Start review-pr monitoring after publication. CI completion and review completion are distinct. Resolve real findings and report material compatibility decisions; a green check does not settle them. Do not merge or mark ready without authorization.

Fix Issue fits situations like: tasks that involve Pull requests; tasks that involve MCP servers.
Run `npx skills add PrefectHQ/fastmcp --skill fix-issue -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/fix-issue in PrefectHQ/fastmcp) into .claude/skills/fix-issue in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add PrefectHQ/fastmcp --skill fix-issue -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/fix-issue in PrefectHQ/fastmcp) into .agents/skills/fix-issue in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add PrefectHQ/fastmcp --skill fix-issue -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/fix-issue, .gemini/skills/fix-issue, .github/skills/fix-issue and .opencode/skills/fix-issue in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Fix Issue is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Fix Issue is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 842 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
