What it does

Form Filling is an agent skill from platonai/Browser4. Automatically fills web forms using provided field data and can optionally submit the form. Use when automating form input, testing forms, or submitting structured data to websites.

Its SKILL.md is about 1.1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 7 other files, including scripts, reference files and assets (for example `assets/config.json`, `assets/form-data-template.md` and `references/developer-guide.md`).

It sits in Documents & Office, covering Forms and invoices and Schema markup. The repository describes itself as: Browser4 — an AI-native browser engine for autonomous agents, intelligent extraction, and large-scale web automation. The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Automating form input
  • Submitting structured data to websites

Example prompts

  • “/form-filling”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0fdba82. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Ships 1 file in scripts/, which the agent can run.

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Form Filling loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.5k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 49 tokens; SKILL.md has 362 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~49
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.1k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2.5k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Usage Examples

Basic Form Filling
kotlin
val result = registry.execute(
    skillId = "form-filling",
    context = context,
    params = mapOf(
        "url" to "https://example.com/contact",
        "formData" to mapOf(
            "name" to "John Doe",
            "email" to "john@example.com",
            "message" to "Hello!"
        )
    )
)
Form Filling with Submission
kotlin
val result = registry.execute(
    skillId = "form-filling",
    context = context,
    params = mapOf(
        "url" to "https://example.com/signup",
        "formData" to mapOf(
            "username" to "johndoe",
            "password" to "securepass123",
            "email" to "john@example.com"
        ),
        "submit" to true
    )
)

Tool Call Specification

kotlin
ToolSpec(
    domain = "skill.form",
    method = "fill",
    arguments = [
        "url: String",
        "formData: Map<String, String>",
        "submit: Boolean = false"
    ],
    returnType = "SkillResult",
    description = "Fill a web form with the provided data"
)

Error Handling

The skill returns a failure result in the following cases:

  • Missing required parameter url
  • Missing required parameter formData
  • Empty formData map
  • Form fields not found on the page

Lifecycle Hooks

onBeforeExecute

Validates that formData is not empty before execution.

validate

Checks if the required dependency skill (web-scraping) is available in the registry.

Implementation Notes

  • Headless mode is the default for AI agents: Always open browsers in headless mode unless the user explicitly requests a visible browser window (e.g., "show me the browser", "open visibly", "headed"). Headless mode is faster, uses fewer resources, and avoids unnecessary GUI windows. If user participation in the page interaction is required — e.g., logging in or entering a verification code (CAPTCHA) — open a headed browser so the user can see and act on the page. Also open headed as a one-shot escalation when the site blocks the headless browser as a bot (CAPTCHA/challenge/interstitial page, "unusual traffic", or an empty body where content was expected): close, then open --headed <url> with the same session and retry once, telling the user that anti-bot protection forced the switch. If the headed retry is blocked too, stop and report instead of looping.
  • Supports various input types: text, email, password, textarea, select, checkbox, radio
  • Automatically handles form field detection and mapping
  • Respects CSRF tokens and hidden fields
  • Can handle multi-page forms through shared context
  • Thread-safe execution

Security Considerations

  • Never log sensitive form data (passwords, credit cards, etc.)
  • Validate form URLs to prevent CSRF attacks
  • Use HTTPS URLs for sensitive forms
  • Clear sensitive data from memory after use

When should I use Form Filling?

Form Filling fits situations like: automating form input; submitting structured data to websites.

How do I install Form Filling in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add platonai/Browser4 --skill form-filling -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (browser4-agentic/src/main/resources/skills/form-filling in platonai/Browser4) into .claude/skills/form-filling in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Form Filling in Codex?

Can I use Form Filling in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add platonai/Browser4 --skill form-filling -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/form-filling, .gemini/skills/form-filling, .github/skills/form-filling and .opencode/skills/form-filling in your project.

What does Form Filling need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Form Filling is instructions for the agent only.

Does Form Filling access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Form Filling safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.

What licence does Form Filling use?

Form Filling is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Form Filling use?

About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.4k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.

What are the alternatives to Form Filling?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Form Filling: Glmocr SDK (zai-org/GLM-skills, 476 stars), Veryfi Documents AI (LeoYeAI/openclaw-master-skills, 2.2k stars), Extracting Structured Data (GAIK-project/gaik-toolkit, 100 stars) and Azure AI Document Intelligence Dotnet (microsoft/skills, 3.1k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
