What it does

Catalog is an agent skill from openqa-cn/codexqa. Constructs catalog products (standard or limited), catalog orders, and account-credit enrollment, including product-then-credit scenes. Internal catalog slot of the parent pack; do not invoke independently.

Its SKILL.md is about 510 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 12 other files, including scripts, reference files and assets (for example `assets/openapi/catalog.yaml`, `references/tools-guide.md` and `scripts/executors/create_limited_product.ts`).

It sits in Development. The repository describes itself as: codexqa: 11 local-first Agent Skills for Cursor, Claude Code, Codex & OpenClaw — change impact analysis, AI code review, defect scan, testcase generation, browser replay & RCA. The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Development work in your project

Example prompts

  • “Use the catalog skill to construct catalog products (standard or limited), catalog orders, and account-credit enrollment, including…”
  • “/catalog”

Requirements

  • Node.js

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Create catalog product (or reuse productId)
  2. Enroll the product and user in account credit
  3. Return productId, enrollment result, creditBalance

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 7839542. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 4 files in scripts/ (TypeScript), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • node

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Catalog loads about 514 tokens when it runs, and up to ~674 if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 54 tokens; SKILL.md has 181 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~54
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~514
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~674

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Catalog data-build slot

Vendor-neutral catalog-domain slot. Drop-in under pack slots/ (already discovered; no extra slot_roots / marketplace path).
slot.yaml is the scene config. More specific entities (limited / credit) are listed before generic product.
Executors talk to DATA_BUILD_API_BASE (default local mock on port 8765). The case pipeline binds these executors from slot.yaml without an LLM when the match is unique.

Single-step routing

User intentExecutor
Standard catalog productscripts/executors/create_product.ts
Limited catalog productscripts/executors/create_limited_product.ts
Catalog orderscripts/executors/create_order.ts
Account credit on a product / userscripts/executors/setup_account_credit.ts

Do not invent productId / userId when the user already supplied them. Optional fields use executor defaults.

bash
node scripts/executors/create_product.ts --json '{"name":"Northwind Standard","city":"demo-city"}'

Scene orchestration

credit-ready-product

  1. Create catalog product (or reuse productId)
  2. Enroll the product and user in account credit
  3. Return productId, enrollment result, creditBalance

bookable-order

  1. Ensure a product exists
  2. Create an order for userId + productId
  3. Return productId, orderId, status

Pass upstream data fields into the next executor. Do not skip a later scene step.

Guardrails

  • Start node ../mock_server.ts if no enterprise gateway is configured
  • Do not invent productId / userId / orderId
  • Defaults: city=demo-city, validHours=4, fulfillOn=today+2days, quantity=1, credits=1000
  • See references/tools-guide.md and ../SLOT_SPEC.md

When should I use Catalog?

Catalog fits situations like: development work in your project.

How do I install Catalog in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add openqa-cn/codexqa --skill catalog -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/codexqa-testdata-generator/slots/catalog in openqa-cn/codexqa) into .claude/skills/catalog in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Catalog in Codex?

Run `npx skills add openqa-cn/codexqa --skill catalog -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/codexqa-testdata-generator/slots/catalog in openqa-cn/codexqa) into .agents/skills/catalog in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Catalog in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add openqa-cn/codexqa --skill catalog -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/catalog, .gemini/skills/catalog, .github/skills/catalog and .opencode/skills/catalog in your project.

What does Catalog need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Catalog needs TypeScript for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (node). Our summary lists: Node.js.

Does Catalog access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Catalog safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.

What licence does Catalog use?

Catalog is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Catalog use?

About 514 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 160 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.

What are the alternatives to Catalog?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Catalog: Fix (BUZZARDGTA/Session-Sniffer, 104 stars), Review Code (tobihagemann/turbo, 407 stars), Release (parcadei/Continuous-Claude-v3, 3.9k stars) and Deslop (foryourhealth111-pixel/Vibe-Skills, 3.6k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Catalog?

openqa-cn (a GitHub organization) maintains it in openqa-cn/codexqa, which has 152 GitHub stars. The repository holds 14 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 3, 2026.
