python-patternsReference for idiomatic Python in the agent-core codebase: immutability, protocols, exception hierarchies, context managers and async patterns.
This is a style reference for writing Python in the openJiuwen agent-core repository, built from patterns that recur in its code. It leans toward immutable data: frozen dataclasses with dataclasses.replace for modified copies, NamedTuple for fixed records, and typing.Final for constants that must not be reassigned.
Other sections cover typing.Protocol for structural interfaces (named for the AbilityManager and Rail base classes and plugin interfaces), a project-wide exception hierarchy rooted in AgentCoreError with a rule against bare except, class-based and function-based context managers, and async patterns such as gathering coroutines and creating background tasks. The guidance refers to that codebase's own modules, so it is of limited use elsewhere.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8345a27. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are python and toml).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Python Patterns for agent-core loads about 2.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 24 tokens; SKILL.md has 223 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
GitHub didn't answer just now, so the file isn't shown here. It has 223 words (~2,082 tokens).

Python Patterns for agent-core fits situations like: writing new Python modules in the agent-core repository; reviewing a change for mutable state, bare except clauses or async mistakes; defining a plugin interface with typing.Protocol; adding a custom exception under the project's error hierarchy.

With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add openJiuwen-ai/agent-core --skill python-patterns -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/python-patterns, .gemini/skills/python-patterns, .github/skills/python-patterns and .opencode/skills/python-patterns in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Python Patterns for agent-core is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Python Patterns for agent-core is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 2.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 8.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
