What it does

This skill produces Schema.org markup in JSON-LD so search engines can understand a page and offer rich results. It recommends which schema types fit the content, maps your page's text and data onto the right properties, handles nested multi-type schemas, and points out which rich results the page is eligible to target.

Covered types include FAQ, HowTo, Article, Product, LocalBusiness, Review and Rating, and Organization. Validation guidance checks the output against Google's requirements, and the skill can also review and improve markup that already exists. Three reference files hold a schema decision tree, ready-made templates and a validation guide, and an evals file ships with it.

Input depends on what is connected. With a web crawler available, the agent pulls visible text, headings, lists, tables and any existing markup from the page. Without one, it asks for the page URL or HTML, the page type, the specific data needed such as prices, dates, author details or question-and-answer pairs, and any current markup, and it notes which values were extracted and which you supplied.

When your agent uses it

  • Adding FAQ or HowTo schema to a content page for richer search results
  • Marking up product pages or local business location pages
  • Reviewing existing JSON-LD for missing or invalid properties

Example prompts

  • “Create FAQ schema for the five questions and answers on our pricing page.”
  • “Generate Product schema for the Alder standing desk page, including price and availability.”
  • “Review the JSON-LD in this LocalBusiness block and fix anything Google would reject.”

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Schema Type Selection: Recommends appropriate schema types
  2. JSON-LD Generation: Creates valid structured data markup
  3. Property Mapping: Maps your content to schema properties
  4. Validation Guidance: Ensures schema meets requirements
  5. Nested Schema: Handles complex, multi-type schemas
  6. Rich Result Eligibility: Identifies which rich results you can target

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1a53d4e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • schema.org

    Also links to:

    • validator.schema.org

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Schema Markup Generator loads about 2.8k tokens when it runs, and up to ~10k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 118 tokens; SKILL.md has 655 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~118
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2.8k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~10k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Schema Markup Generator

This skill creates Schema.org structured data markup in JSON-LD format to help search engines understand your content and enable rich results in SERPs.

When This Must Trigger

Use this when the conversation involves any of these situations — even if the user does not use SEO terminology:

Use this whenever the task needs a shippable asset or transformation that should feed directly into quality review, deployment, or monitoring.

  • Adding FAQ schema for expanded SERP presence
  • Creating How-To schema for step-by-step content
  • Adding Product schema for e-commerce pages
  • Implementing Article schema for blog posts
  • Adding Local Business schema for location pages
  • Creating Review/Rating schema
  • Implementing Organization schema for brand presence
  • Any page where rich results would improve visibility

What This Skill Does

  1. Schema Type Selection: Recommends appropriate schema types
  2. JSON-LD Generation: Creates valid structured data markup
  3. Property Mapping: Maps your content to schema properties
  4. Validation Guidance: Ensures schema meets requirements
  5. Nested Schema: Handles complex, multi-type schemas
  6. Rich Result Eligibility: Identifies which rich results you can target

Quick Start

Start with one of these prompts.

Generate Schema for Content
Generate schema markup for this [content type]: [content/URL]
Create FAQ schema for these questions and answers: [Q&A list]
Specific Schema Types
Create Product schema for [product name] with [details]
Generate LocalBusiness schema for [business name and details]
Audit Existing Schema
Review and improve this schema markup: [existing schema]

Data Sources

With ~~web crawler connected: Automatically crawl and extract page content (visible text, headings, lists, tables), existing schema markup, page metadata, and structured content elements that map to schema properties.

With manual data only: Ask the user to provide:

  1. Page URL or full HTML content
  2. Page type (article, product, FAQ, how-to, local business, etc.)
  3. Specific data needed for schema (prices, dates, author info, Q&A pairs, etc.)
  4. Current schema markup (if optimizing existing)

Proceed with the full workflow using provided data. Note in the output which data is from automated extraction vs. user-provided data.

Instructions

When a user requests schema markup:

  1. Identify Content Type and Rich Result Opportunity

Reference the CORE-EEAT Benchmark item O05 (Schema Markup) for content-type to schema mapping:

    markdown
    ### CORE-EEAT Schema Mapping (O05)

    | Content Type | Required Schema | Conditional Schema |
    |-------------|----------------|--------------------|
    | Blog (guides) | Article, Breadcrumb | FAQ, HowTo |
    | Blog (tools) | Article, Breadcrumb | FAQ, Review |
    | Blog (insights) | Article, Breadcrumb | FAQ |
    | Alternative | Comparison*, Breadcrumb, FAQ | AggregateRating |
    | Best-of | ItemList, Breadcrumb, FAQ | AggregateRating per tool |
    | Use-case | WebPage, Breadcrumb, FAQ | — |
    | FAQ | FAQPage, Breadcrumb | — |
    | Landing | SoftwareApplication, Breadcrumb, FAQ | WebPage |
    | Testimonial | Review, Breadcrumb | FAQ, Person |

*Use the mapping above to ensure schema type matches content type (CORE-EEAT O05: Pass criteria).*
    markdown
