bananatapeDrives the BananaTape CLI to create, launch, list and delete local AI image editing projects from an agent, including headless smoke tests.
BananaTape is a local-first browser editor for AI image generation and editing, and this skill teaches the agent its command line. The commands create a named project, optionally under a chosen parent folder, list projects, and launch one on a chosen port, with options to skip opening the browser or to rebuild. launch and open are aliases, and several projects can run at once on different ports.
Projects are local folders, kept by default under ~/Documents/BananaTape Projects/ unless BANANATAPE_PROJECTS_DIR points elsewhere. delete only unregisters a project, and --delete-files also removes its folder. Agent smoke tests and headless checks should use --no-open, while normal use lets the editor open in your browser. Image generation needs an OPENAI_API_KEY in the environment or a Codex CLI that is already signed in, and the agent must not print keys, write them into files or edit ~/.codex/auth.json. Node.js 22 or newer is required.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit a6e52b9. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npmcurlnpxFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npm, curl and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
OPENAI_API_KEYFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
BananaTape Image Editor CLI loads about 547 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 29 tokens; SKILL.md has 166 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Without a licence we can't republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 166 words (~547 tokens).

Run `npx skills add NomaDamas/bananatape --skill bananatape -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/bananatape in NomaDamas/bananatape) into .claude/skills/bananatape in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add NomaDamas/bananatape --skill bananatape -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/bananatape in NomaDamas/bananatape) into .agents/skills/bananatape in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add NomaDamas/bananatape --skill bananatape -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/bananatape, .gemini/skills/bananatape, .github/skills/bananatape and .opencode/skills/bananatape in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, BananaTape Image Editor CLI needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npm, curl and npx) and credentials named OPENAI_API_KEY. Our summary lists: Node.js 22 or newer; The BananaTape CLI, installed globally or run through npx; An OPENAI_API_KEY, or a Codex CLI already signed in.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npm, curl and npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
No licence was found for BananaTape Image Editor CLI or its repository. Without one, default copyright applies: ask the author before reusing or redistributing it.
About 547 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.2k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
