What it does

Mud Indexing is an agent skill from Nethereum/Nethereum. Help users index MUD Store events, process on-chain table mutations, store in PostgreSQL or EF Core, normalise schemas, run continuous sync. Use when users mention MUD indexing, Store events, MUD PostgreSQL, MUD EF Core, StoreEventsLogProcessingService, or building an indexer for MUD World data.

Its SKILL.md is about 700 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Databases, covering Smart contracts. It works with PostgreSQL. The repository describes itself as: Ethereum .Net cross platform integration library. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Users mention MUD indexing
  • StoreEventsLogProcessingService
  • Building an indexer for MUD World data

Example prompts

  • “/mud-indexing”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 229f278. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • dotnet

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • docs.nethereum.com

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Mud Indexing loads about 702 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 77 tokens; SKILL.md has 126 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~77
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~702

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

MUD Store Event Indexing with Nethereum

Every MUD table mutation emits a Store event. By processing these events, you can rebuild the complete state of any MUD World and store it in PostgreSQL with typed relational tables.

When to Use This Skill

  • User wants to index MUD World state off-chain
  • User needs to process Store events into a database
  • User wants PostgreSQL tables mirroring MUD schemas
  • User mentions StoreEventsLogProcessingService, MUD normalisation, or MUD repositories

Required Packages

bash
dotnet add package Nethereum.Mud.Contracts

# For PostgreSQL normalisation:
dotnet add package Nethereum.Mud.Repositories.Postgres

# For EF Core (any database):
dotnet add package Nethereum.Mud.Repositories.EntityFramework

Quick Start: In-Memory

csharp
var storeEventsService = new StoreEventsLogProcessingService(web3, worldAddress);
var repository = new InMemoryTableRepository();
await storeEventsService.ProcessAllStoreChangesAsync(repository);
// repository now contains full current state

PostgreSQL Normalisation

csharp
var normaliser = new MudPostgresStoreRecordsNormaliser(connectionString, worldAddress);
await normaliser.UpsertAsync(repository);

Creates typed PostgreSQL tables: {namespace}__{tableName} with proper column types.

Query Normalised Tables

csharp
var queryService = new NormalisedTableQueryService(connectionString);
var tables = await queryService.GetAvailableTablesAsync();
var results = await queryService.QueryAsync("app__Player", limit: 100);
var count = await queryService.CountAsync("app__Player");

Continuous Sync

csharp
var processor = storeEventsService.CreateProcessor(
    repository,
    blockProgressRepository: new InMemoryBlockchainProgressRepository(),
    numberOfBlocksPerRequest: 1000);

await processor.ExecuteAsync(cancellationToken);

Processing from Transaction Receipt

csharp
var receipt = await playerService.SetRecordRequestAndWaitForReceiptAsync(key, value);
await StoreEventsLogProcessingService.ProcessAllStoreChangesFromLogs(repository, receipt);

Can I use Mud Indexing in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add Nethereum/Nethereum --skill mud-indexing -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/mud-indexing, .gemini/skills/mud-indexing, .github/skills/mud-indexing and .opencode/skills/mud-indexing in your project.

What does Mud Indexing need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Mud Indexing needs the command-line tools its instructions call (dotnet).

Does Mud Indexing access the network?

SKILL.md names 1 domain. As links in the text: docs.nethereum.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Mud Indexing safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Mud Indexing use?

Mud Indexing is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Mud Indexing use?

About 702 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
