Pp Yamap is an agent skill from mvanhorn/printing-press-library. Discover Japan hikes on YAMAP, inspect planned model courses and recorded trip metrics, read dated contributor reports, or check source map coverage. Use for YAMAP hiking discovery, recent reports, use yamap, or run yamap.
Its SKILL.md is about 1.4k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
The repository describes itself as: Official library of CLIs generated by the CLI Printing Press. Endorsed, tested, and community-contributed. The licence is Apache-2.0.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 76de244. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadBashFrom allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
npxgoFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Pp Yamap loads about 1.4k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 58 tokens; SKILL.md has 553 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, BashAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from mvanhorn/printing-press-library at commit 76de244, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© mvanhorn). 553 words, ~1,402 tokens.

This skill drives the yamap-pp-cli binary. You must verify the CLI is installed before invoking any command from this skill. If it is missing, install it first:
$HOME/.local/bin on macOS/Linux and %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\PrintingPress\bin on Windows:npx -y @mvanhorn/printing-press-library install yamap --cli-onlyyamap-pp-cli --version$PATH for the agent/runtime that will invoke this skill. If the npx install fails (no Node, offline, etc.), fall back to a direct Go install (requires Go 1.26.6 or newer). This installs into $GOPATH/bin (default $HOME/go/bin), so add that directory to $PATH instead:
go install github.com/mvanhorn/printing-press-library/library/travel/yamap/cmd/yamap-pp-cli@latestIf --version reports "command not found" after install, the runtime cannot see the binary directory on $PATH. Do not proceed with skill commands until verification succeeds.
Search named mountains, planned model courses, recorded trips and map areas. Keep source metrics and contributor observations separate from closure and safety decisions.
Use Japanese names, preserve source IDs and prefectures, then fetch one detail lazily. Public anonymous first-party reads need no paid account. Installation from the public catalog becomes available after maintainer merge.
Do not use for safety certification, authoritative closure clearance, GPX/offline navigation, account data, purchases, bookings or route creation.
yamap-pp-cli mountains search 高尾山 --agent --select id,name, prefectures, urlKeep source IDs and Japanese names.
yamap-pp-cli reports recent 高尾山 --limit 3 --agentActivity-date filter within bounded candidate coverage.
yamap-pp-cli maps coverage 77 --agentArea bounds do not establish route safety or offline availability.
Focused helpers preserve the evidence boundaries described above.
reports recent — Find recorded activity evidence by trip date in a bounded scan
yamap-pp-cli reports recent 高尾山 --limit 3 --agentreports observations — Read bounded contributor observations with trip dates and source links
yamap-pp-cli reports observations 51497803 --agentroutes compare — Compare planned metrics with recorded metrics without assuming track equivalence
yamap-pp-cli routes compare 1771 51497803 --agentmaps coverage — Inspect map area bounds and limits of map coverage
yamap-pp-cli maps coverage 77 --agentinventory status — Inspect cached request inventory and freshness without a crawl
yamap-pp-cli inventory status --agentAnonymous public first-party JSON reads; no account or paid key. Membership-only GPX and multi-landmark operations excluded.
Run yamap-pp-cli doctor to verify setup.
Focused commands emit compact {meta, results} JSON by default. Add --select for result fields; metadata always retains coverage/provenance. Distances/elevation use meters; durations seconds. UTC timestamps and Japan trip dates are explicit. Unavailable values are null.
Model courses are planned references. Report summaries use legacy metrics and may omit planned status; detail prefers regularized elapsed/active/rest totals. Exact moving time is unavailable. Contributor text and publisher cautions retain separate evidence classes. Neither user reports nor false publisher closure flags establish safe/open status. Linked authoritative notices are not independently fetched. Map bounds do not prove offline/track/trail coverage.
One page/five results default, limit at most twenty. Recent scans default twenty candidates, at most five pages. Sort/recency guarantees apply only within the scan; older seasons remain dated. Empty results cannot establish no reports or safe/open trails. Exact-request cache TTL is fifteen minutes. Use --refresh explicitly, --no-cache for no persistence, or --data-source local for exact cached reads with stale metadata. Isolate paths with --home when needed. --diagnostics writes costs to stderr.
Read stderr and exit status: 2 usage, 3 absent source/cache, 4 restricted, 5 network/challenge/schema, 7 throttled, 10 config/path. Failures emit no result JSON. Inspect source links before interpreting observations. Run yamap-pp-cli doctor --agent for connectivity and yamap-pp-cli inventory status --agent for cache coverage.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Pp Yamap needs the command-line tools its instructions call (npx and go). Our summary lists: Node.js. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Bash.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use npx, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Pp Yamap is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 1.4k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 5.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
