At a glance

Audit every crate's Cargo.toml for unused, duplicate or misplaced dependencies, moving shared deps to the workspace and feature-gating where sensible.

  • Slim dependencies
  • Instructions only: no scripts, shell commands, URLs or credentials in SKILL.md

What it does

Test Dependency Audit is an agent skill from mrchantey/beet. Audit every crate's Cargo.toml for unused, duplicate or misplaced dependencies, moving shared deps to the workspace and feature-gating where sensible. Use when asked to audit or slim dependencies.

Its SKILL.md is about 250 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It works with Rust. The repository describes itself as: An Atmospheric OS for homegrown tech. The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Slim dependencies

Example prompts

  • “/test-dependency-audit”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 38648b8. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Test Dependency Audit loads about 246 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 55 tokens; SKILL.md has 107 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~55
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~246

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Audit every crate's Cargo.toml for unused, duplicate or misplaced dependencies, moving shared deps to the workspace and feature-gating where sensible. Use when asked to audit or slim dependencies.

Dependency Audit

perform a dependency audit on each crates Cargo.toml.

  • ie beet_net should have very few required dependencies. http is one of many transports and should not be a hard requirement.
  • remove unused/duplicate deps.
  • dependencies that are shared amongst crates belong in the workspace Cargo.toml
  • dependencies that are used by only one crate belong in that crates Cargo.toml
  • if a dep would be a better fit in an upstream or downstream crate in the workspace, move it over.
  • feature gate where possible, but avoid feature spaghettification

Verification

  • verify individual crates after making changes, including with/without the changed features.
  • aggressively use tail for all tests to preserve context
