What it does

TDD Cycle is an agent skill from modimihir07/agentic-os. Red-Green-Refactor test-driven development cycle

Its SKILL.md is about 230 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files (for example `eval.json`, `learnings.md` and `score-history.json`).

It sits in Testing & QA, covering Test-driven development. The repository describes itself as: Agentic OS: Multi-agent orchestration platform for opencode, Hermes & Gemini CLI. Skills hub, scheduler, cost analytics, memory & backup. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Tasks that involve Test-driven development

Example prompts

  • “/tdd-cycle”

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. RED: Write a failing test for the desired behavior
  2. Verify test fails (confirm test is valid)
  3. GREEN: Write minimal code to make the test pass
  4. Verify test passes
  5. REFACTOR: Clean up code while keeping tests green
  6. Commit with message format: RED|GREEN|REFACTOR: description

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c7ebbb4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

TDD Cycle loads about 232 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 15 tokens; SKILL.md has 117 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~15
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~232

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

TDD Cycle

Description

Enforces the Red-Green-Refactor TDD cycle: write a failing test, make it pass, then refactor. No code is written before a test exists.

When to Use

  • When implementing any new feature
  • When fixing a bug
  • When refactoring existing code

Process

  1. RED: Write a failing test for the desired behavior
  2. Verify test fails (confirm test is valid)
  3. GREEN: Write minimal code to make the test pass
  4. Verify test passes
  5. REFACTOR: Clean up code while keeping tests green
  6. Commit with message format: RED|GREEN|REFACTOR: description

Rules

  • Production code is only written to make a failing test pass
  • Delete any code written before tests
  • Never skip the RED phase

Agent Assignment

  • Primary: opencode
