init-projectTRIGGER when user asks to initialize, set up, or bootstrap a Microbus project.
Init Project is an agent skill from microbus-io/fabric. TRIGGER when user asks to initialize, set up, or bootstrap a Microbus project. Scaffolds main/main.go, config files, agent files, .gitignore, VS Code launch config, Claude Code permissions, and the token-signing key.
Its SKILL.md is about 660 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Project scaffolding. It works with Visual Studio Code and Go. The repository describes itself as: Microbus is the only fabric where every agentic workflow runs on a true microservice substrate - giving your workflows security, scale, observability, and prompt-driven authoring. The licence is Apache-2.0.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit fb98098. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
goFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Init Project loads about 664 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 57 tokens; SKILL.md has 272 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from microbus-io/fabric at commit fb98098, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© microbus-io). 272 words, ~664 tokens.

Copy this checklist and track your progress:
Initialize a project to use Microbus:
- [ ] Step 1: Check if a Microbus project
- [ ] Step 2: Download agent rules and skills
- [ ] Step 3: Scaffold the project
- [ ] Step 4: Verify the build
- [ ] Step 5: Offer the tourIf go.mod does not exist in the project directory, this is not a Go project. Exit this workflow.
If go.mod does not include a reference to github.com/microbus-io/fabric, this is not a Microbus project. Exit this workflow.
Note whether main/main.go already exists. If it does not, this is a new install - remember this for Step 5.
Copy the agent rules and skills from the pinned Microbus version already in the Go module cache. This is version-matched to go.mod and needs no network access. The module cache is read-only, so make the copies writable.
src="$(go list -m -f '{{.Dir}}' github.com/microbus-io/fabric)"
mkdir -p .claude
cp -R "$src/.claude/rules" "$src/.claude/skills" .claude/
chmod -R u+w .claude/rules .claude/skillsRun geninit to scaffold the project. It is idempotent: it creates main/main.go, main/env.yaml, CLAUDE.md, config.yaml, config.local.yaml, env.yaml, env.local.yaml, .gitignore, .vscode/launch.json, and .claude/settings.json, and generates a fresh Ed25519 token-signing key for bearer.token.core in config.local.yaml. Existing files are left intact.
go run github.com/microbus-io/fabric/cmd/geninit.claude/settings.json auto-approves the Bash commands invoked by the housekeeping and regenerate-boilerplate skills, so an agent following them is not prompted for each invocation. The file is project-shared and should be checked into git.
Confirm the scaffolded project compiles.
go vet ./main/...If this is a new install (from Step 1), tell the user the project is ready and offer to take the agent-guided tour, which runs the bundled example microservices. If they accept, follow the take-tour skill. If this is not a new install, skip this step.

Run `npx skills add microbus-io/fabric --skill init-project -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/microbus/init-project in microbus-io/fabric) into .claude/skills/init-project in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add microbus-io/fabric --skill init-project -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.claude/skills/microbus/init-project in microbus-io/fabric) into .agents/skills/init-project in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add microbus-io/fabric --skill init-project -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/init-project, .gemini/skills/init-project, .github/skills/init-project and .opencode/skills/init-project in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Init Project needs the command-line tools its instructions call (go).
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Init Project is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 664 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.7k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Init Project: Vscode (981377660LMT/algorithm-study, 277 stars), Arandu Module Generator (arandu-io/arandu, 281 stars), New Example (go-gui-org/go-gui, 123 stars) and Rocky Codegen (rocky-data/rocky, 304 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
