xlsxCreate, inspect, edit, recalculate, validate, render, and deliver Excel workbooks while preserving formulas, formatting, drawings, links, macros, and metadata.
XLSX is an agent skill from MemTensor/memmy-agent. Create, inspect, edit, recalculate, validate, render, and deliver Excel workbooks while preserving formulas, formatting, drawings, links, macros, and metadata.
Its SKILL.md is about 590 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 15 other files, including scripts and reference files (for example `references/formula-recalculation.md`, `references/layout-and-preservation.md` and `references/workbook-workflow.md`).
It sits in Documents & Office, covering Excel spreadsheets. It works with Microsoft Excel and OpenAI. The repository describes itself as: 🍙 A personal AI agent & local memory hub for all AI agents, gives every AI one shared, fully controlled memory and persistent context — all AI remember the same you. Now… The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ee0ed02. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 9 files in scripts/ (JavaScript), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

XLSX loads about 586 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 41 tokens; SKILL.md has 277 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

not use it for ordinary documents, web pages, databases, or live external
spreadsheet APIs.
scripts/inspect_workbook.mjs --input <file> --json before editing.scripts/recalculate_workbook.mjs --input <file> --output <file> --json. A completed recalculation with formula errors is reported as
errors_found; a conversion or process failure is a separate failure.scripts/check_workbook.mjs <file> --json; use --allow-lossy only
when the caller explicitly accepts the listed loss. The checker does not
use PPTX or XSD data.scripts/render_with_office.mjs <file> --output-dir <dir> and
inspect every sheet/page. Reopen the output and verify formulas, cached
values, objects, and that the original hash is unchanged.CSV/TSV input requires an explicit encoding, BOM, delimiter, quote, newline, and malformed-row policy. Never replace formulas with constants unless a static export was requested. External links, macros, unsupported extensions, and objects that cannot be safely preserved fail closed.
All commands are standalone Node CLIs. They write stable JSON with --json,
diagnostics to stderr, and non-zero status for invalid input, missing Office,
timeout, or unsafe preservation. The bundled renderer is resolved through
MEMMY_OFFICE_RENDERING_ROOT, the legacy DOCX override during migration, the
packaged Office payload, and the source payload; it never silently falls back
to a system PATH installation.
See references/workbook-workflow.md, references/formula-recalculation.md,
and references/layout-and-preservation.md for the full SOP.

XLSX fits situations like: tasks that involve Excel spreadsheets.
Run `npx skills add MemTensor/memmy-agent --skill xlsx -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (App/memmy-agent/src/skills/xlsx in MemTensor/memmy-agent) into .claude/skills/xlsx in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add MemTensor/memmy-agent --skill xlsx -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (App/memmy-agent/src/skills/xlsx in MemTensor/memmy-agent) into .agents/skills/xlsx in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add MemTensor/memmy-agent --skill xlsx -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/xlsx, .gemini/skills/xlsx, .github/skills/xlsx and .opencode/skills/xlsx in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, XLSX needs JavaScript for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: Node.js.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
XLSX is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 586 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 565 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with XLSX: Excel Workbook (adongwanai/learn-workbuddy, 407 stars), Markitdown (aipoch/medical-research-skills, 2k stars), Openai Spreadsheet (trailofbits/skills-curated, 512 stars) and XLSX Processing Openai (lawve-ai/awesome-legal-skills, 836 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
MemTensor (a GitHub organization) maintains it in MemTensor/memmy-agent, which has 2,069 GitHub stars. The repository holds 10 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 8, 2026.
