ljg-paperExplains a research paper to a non-specialist reader: what was studied, what was contributed, how the findings follow, and what the evidence does not establish.
Written mostly in Chinese, the skill targets a reader with general life experience but no familiarity with the paper's field, and aims to leave them able to explain both the paper's idea in plain language and what the authors actually studied and contributed. It builds the explanation around a clear question, using concrete people, actions and conditions rather than invented drama, switching examples as needed while explaining what each new one adds, and reaching for ASCII diagrams only when a relationship truly needs one.
Depending on the input, a full paper (arXiv link, PDF or local file) gets an Org-mode reading note saved under a fixed directory plus a paper-map research record, while a title-only request first finds a reliable source for the same two files, and a request for only a spoken explanation skips saving but still meets the same three goals: explaining what the paper did, explaining why the reader's prior understanding needs revising, and leaving the reader able to use the paper's own mechanism to explain further findings.
Explicitly out of scope are reproduction, formal peer review, benchmark tables and literature surveys. After writing, a validation script checks the saved note's format against the paper-map, accepting older format versions without requiring old notes to be rewritten.

Paper Explainer for Non-Specialists loads about 712 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.5k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 102 tokens; SKILL.md has 157 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

确保拿到:标题、作者、摘要、引言、方法、实验/结果、结论。
论文有固定骨架,但骨架下面藏着真正的结构:
Before this paper vs after this paper,
按 references/template.org 的结构,将以上结果编织成一篇连贯分析。
写完扫一遍:
列修改清单确认后生成文件。
按 Denote 规范获取时间戳,读 references/template.org,写入 ~/Documents/notes/。

Paper Explainer for Non-Specialists fits situations like: explaining an arXiv paper, PDF or paper title to someone outside that field; writing up a research paper as a saved reading note for later reference; understanding what a paper's evidence actually supports versus what it does not.
Run `npx skills add lijigang/ljg-skill-paper --skill ljg-paper -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ljg-paper in lijigang/ljg-skill-paper) into .claude/skills/ljg-paper in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add lijigang/ljg-skill-paper --skill ljg-paper -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ljg-paper in lijigang/ljg-skill-paper) into .agents/skills/ljg-paper in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add lijigang/ljg-skill-paper --skill ljg-paper -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/ljg-paper, .gemini/skills/ljg-paper, .github/skills/ljg-paper and .opencode/skills/ljg-paper in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Paper Explainer for Non-Specialists is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: Bun to run the validation script; An Org-mode notes setup at ~/Context/.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Paper Explainer for Non-Specialists is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 712 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 749 tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Paper Explainer for Non-Specialists: Literature Review (neflibata-feng/MyArxiv-Agent, 126 stars), Systematic Literature Review Builder (bytedance/deer-flow, 84k stars), Paper Research on arXiv (XiaomiMiMo/MiMo-Code, 14k stars) and Literature Review Agent (Ar9av/PaperOrchestra, 679 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
