At a glance

Runs structured brainstorming and research sessions with SCAMPER, SWOT and mind-map techniques, bundled templates and helper scripts, saving outputs in the project.

  • Works in 4 steps: Analysis → Planning → Solutioning → …
  • Brainstorming solutions to a project problem with a named technique
  • SKILL.md covers Canonical Summary, Trigger Rules, Resource Use Rules and Execution Contract, plus 10 more sections
  • Runs Shell scripts from its folder; calls bash

What it does

The skill acts as a creative intelligence specialist: it leads brainstorming sessions with named techniques, runs market, competitive, technical and user research, and records findings and insights. It follows five principles: structured creativity over random ideation, evidence-based decisions, diverging before converging, documenting everything and borrowing ideas from other domains.

Bundled material includes two resource files on brainstorming techniques and research methods, a reference file, templates for a brainstorm session and a research report, and three shell scripts: research-sources.sh, scamper-prompts.sh and swot-template.sh. Scripts are optional helpers that run only when their dependencies exist, with a manual fallback explained when they cannot.

Rules keep the work traceable: relative paths resolve from the skill folder first, bundled scripts are inspected before they change anything, a missing runtime or credential is reported rather than silently skipped, and generated files go into the active project workspace, never back into the skill folder.

When your agent uses it

  • Brainstorming solutions to a project problem with a named technique
  • Running a SWOT analysis or SCAMPER pass on a feature idea
  • Compiling a research report on a market, competitor or technical option

Example prompts

  • “Run a SCAMPER session on our onboarding checklist feature and save the notes.”
  • “Do a SWOT analysis of adding an offline mode and write it up with the research template.”
  • “Brainstorm ideas for reducing churn, then diverge and converge to a shortlist.”

Requirements

  • Bash, for the optional helper scripts

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Analysis
  2. Planning
  3. Solutioning
  4. Implementation

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 6baece9. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 3 files in scripts/ (Shell), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • bash

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Structured Brainstorming and Research loads about 4.7k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 40 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,579 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~40
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~4.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Canonical Summary

Facilitates structured brainstorming sessions, conducts comprehensive research, and generates creative solutions using proven frameworks. Trigger keywords - brainstorm, ideate, research, SCAMPER, SWOT, mind map, creative, explore ideas, ma...

Trigger Rules

Use this skill when the user request matches its research workflow scope. Prefer the bundled resources instead of recreating templates or reference material. Keep outputs traceable to project files, citations, scripts, or upstream evidence.

Resource Use Rules

  • Treat scripts/ as optional helpers. Run them only when their dependencies are available, keep outputs in the project workspace, and explain a manual fallback if execution is blocked.
  • Reuse files under templates/ instead of recreating equivalent structure from scratch when the user asks for the matching deliverable.

Execution Contract

  • Resolve every relative path from this skill directory first.
  • Prefer inspection before mutation when invoking bundled scripts.
  • If a required runtime, CLI, credential, or API is unavailable, explain the blocker and continue with the best manual fallback instead of silently skipping the step.
  • Do not write generated artifacts back into the skill directory; save them inside the active project workspace.
