linear-agent-writesThe org policy for what an agent may write to Linear, and how it must be marked.
Linear Agent Writes is an agent skill from langfuse/langfuse. The org policy for what an agent may write to Linear, and how it must be marked. Read this before creating a ticket, editing a description, or commenting on a ticket as an agent — "file this in Linear", "comment on the ticket", "create a subticket", "write the handover". Default those writes to a short human description; expand with research only when asked. Also covers the required Linear connection and what to do when there isn't one.
Its SKILL.md is about 2.6k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`).
It sits in AI & LLM Engineering. It works with Langfuse. The repository describes itself as: 🪢 Open source agent evals & observability: Trace, evaluate, and improve LLM applications with one open platform.
3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8b58764. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pnpmFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pnpm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
LINEAR_API_KEYLINEAR_TOKENLINEAR_API_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Linear Agent Writes loads about 2.6k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 115 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,602 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 1,602 words (~2,623 tokens).
“Agents may write to Linear, but most writes are proposals first. Show the text you intend to land, get an explicit go-ahead, then write it yourself. Do not silently mutate a ticket the human is mid-session with.”

Linear Agent Writes fits situations like: AI & LLM Engineering work in your project.
Run `npx skills add langfuse/langfuse --skill linear-agent-writes -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/linear-agent-writes in langfuse/langfuse) into .claude/skills/linear-agent-writes in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add langfuse/langfuse --skill linear-agent-writes -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.agents/skills/linear-agent-writes in langfuse/langfuse) into .agents/skills/linear-agent-writes in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add langfuse/langfuse --skill linear-agent-writes -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/linear-agent-writes, .gemini/skills/linear-agent-writes, .github/skills/linear-agent-writes and .opencode/skills/linear-agent-writes in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Linear Agent Writes needs the command-line tools its instructions call (pnpm) and credentials named LINEAR_API_KEY, LINEAR_TOKEN and LINEAR_API_TOKEN. Our summary lists: A credential in LINEAR_API_KEY; A credential in LINEAR_TOKEN.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Linear Agent Writes has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 2.6k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 10k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Linear Agent Writes: Langfuse Integration Page (langfuse/langfuse-docs, 246 stars), Langfuse (langfuse/skills, 299 stars), Add Yourself To Team Langfuse (langfuse/langfuse-docs, 246 stars) and Langfuse (Anil-matcha/awesome-muse-connectors, 1.3k stars).
