vercel-advanced-troubleshootingAdvanced debugging for hard-to-diagnose Vercel issues including cold starts, edge errors, and function tracing.
Vercel Advanced Troubleshooting is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Advanced debugging for hard-to-diagnose Vercel issues including cold starts, edge errors, and function tracing. Use when standard troubleshooting fails, investigating intermittent failures, or preparing evidence for Vercel support escalation. Trigger with phrases like "vercel hard bug", "vercel mystery error", "vercel intermittent failure", "difficult vercel issue", "vercel deep debug".
Its SKILL.md is about 2.1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 6 other files, including reference files (for example `references/errors.md`, `references/evidence-collection-framework.md` and `references/examples.md`). Compatibility notes: Designed for Claude Code
It sits in Development, covering Failing and flaky tests and Debugging. It works with Vercel. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.
8 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadGrepBash(vercel:*)Bash(curl:*)Bash(jq:*)From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
curlvercelnpxjqFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
api.vercel.comvercel-status.comAlso links to:
vercel.comgithub.comFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
VERCEL_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Designed for Claude Code
From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Vercel Advanced Troubleshooting loads about 2.1k tokens when it runs, and up to ~3.2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 105 tokens; SKILL.md has 322 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace at commit cfae287, republished under its MIT licence (© jeremylongshore). 322 words, ~2,142 tokens.

tar czf vercel-debug-$(date +%Y%m%d).tar.gz .| Symptom | Likely Cause | Debug Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Intermittent 500 errors | Cold start + unhandled async | Add global error handler, check init code |
| Latency spikes every ~15 min | Function isolate recycling (cold start) | Measure with x-cold-start header |
| Works in preview, fails in prod | Env var scope mismatch | Compare env vars across environments |
| EDGE_FUNCTION_INVOCATION_FAILED | Node.js API in edge runtime | Check imports for Node.js-only modules |
| Function works locally, fails deployed | Missing dependency or env var | Run vercel build locally, check output |
Start with the deployment ID and a redacted request identifier, then reproduce the route against a preview deployment using synthetic data. Compare the function duration and region in vercel logs with the preview result; do not export customer payloads or production environment variables into the debug archive. If the evidence points to an initialization regression, deploy the smallest rollback or feature-flag change to preview first, verify the latency bound, and promote only after the incident owner records the before/after evidence.
For load testing and scaling, see vercel-load-scale.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Vercel Advanced Troubleshooting needs the command-line tools its instructions call (curl, vercel, npx and jq) and credentials named VERCEL_TOKEN. Our summary lists: Node.js; A credential in VERCEL_TOKEN. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Grep, Bash(vercel:*), Bash(curl:*), Bash(jq:*). Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Designed for Claude Code.
SKILL.md names 4 domains. In commands or code: api.vercel.com and vercel-status.com; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. As links in the text: vercel.com and github.com. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Vercel Advanced Troubleshooting is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 2.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 8.6k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
