What it does

Together Local Dev Loop is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Develop Together AI integrations with a fake transport, recorded response shapes, deterministic assertions, and an opt-in bounded live probe. Use when iterating without spending tokens on every test. Trigger with "Together local dev", "mock Together API", or "test Together client".

Its SKILL.md is about 970 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/official-docs.md`). Compatibility notes: Designed for Claude Code; optional live probes require network access and a Together AI project key

It works with Together AI. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Iterating without spending tokens on every test
  • With Together local dev
  • Mock Together API
  • Test Together client

Example prompts

  • “Together local dev”
  • “mock Together API”
  • “test Together client”
  • “/together-local-dev-loop”

Requirements

  • Python 3
  • A credential in TOGETHER_API_KEY
  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Designed for Claude Code; optional live probes require network access and a Together AI project key
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Read, Glob, Grep, WebFetch, Write, Edit

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Locate the narrowest Together client boundary and enumerate consumed fields.
  2. Build typed fake responses for non-streaming, streaming, and each retry class.
  3. Assert model selection, request bounds, idempotent reconciliation keys, and redaction.
  4. Gate the live probe behind an explicit environment switch plus a development key.
  5. Limit the live probe to one small request against a catalog-resolved model.
  6. Compare shape-level behavior, update sanitized fixtures if approved, and record cost/cleanup.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Read
    • Glob
    • Grep
    • WebFetch
    • Write
    • Edit

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • docs.together.ai
    • github.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • TOGETHER_API_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

Designed for Claude Code; optional live probes require network access and a Together AI project key

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Together Local Dev Loop loads about 966 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 77 tokens; SKILL.md has 392 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~77
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~966
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Together AI Local Development Loop

Overview

This skill keeps ordinary development offline and deterministic while retaining one explicit live lane for detecting provider-contract drift.

Prerequisites

  • The repository's test runner and client abstraction
  • Sanitized fixtures for success, streaming chunks, 401, 404, 429, and 503
  • A separate development project key for an opt-in live probe
  • A fixed token and request budget for that probe

Tool Discipline

Use Read, Glob, and Grep to discover the wrapper, tests, fixtures, and environment gates. Use WebFetch to confirm current response and error shapes. Use Write or Edit only after matching repository conventions; never save live prompts, outputs, or credentials as fixtures.

Current Contract

  • Inject a client or transport rather than mocking SDK internals throughout the codebase.
  • Preserve the SDK response fields the application actually consumes: choices, deltas, finish reason, usage, and error status.
  • Make live tests opt-in, bounded, non-sensitive, and visibly skipped when no approved key exists.
  • Test dynamic limit-header handling without hard-coding permanent RPM or TPM values.

Authentication

Offline tests use no key. The live lane reads a development-only TOGETHER_API_KEY from the approved test secret store and must be unavailable to untrusted fork workflows.

Instructions

  1. Locate the narrowest Together client boundary and enumerate consumed fields.
  2. Build typed fake responses for non-streaming, streaming, and each retry class.
  3. Assert model selection, request bounds, idempotent reconciliation keys, and redaction.
  4. Gate the live probe behind an explicit environment switch plus a development key.
  5. Limit the live probe to one small request against a catalog-resolved model.
  6. Compare shape-level behavior, update sanitized fixtures if approved, and record cost/cleanup.

Approval Boundaries

Do not expose a live key to pull requests from forks. Do not refresh fixtures from customer traffic or authorize an unbounded live test suite.

Output

Return fake-contract coverage, offline test results, live-lane disposition, model-resolution evidence, request budget, and any detected SDK or API drift.

Error Handling

ConditionResponse
SDK object is hard to fakeIntroduce an application-owned adapter; do not patch deep internals.
Live key absentMark the live lane skipped, not passed.
Fixture contains sensitive textRemove it and replace it with synthetic data.
Live response shape changedPreserve evidence and update the adapter before fixtures.

Examples

The example below shows the minimum redacted evidence expected from a successful invocation of this operator workflow.

text
offline=34_pass; live=skipped(no-approved-key); fixtures=synthetic; token_budget=128
