What it does

Shopify CI Integration is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Configure CI/CD pipelines for Shopify apps with GitHub Actions, API version testing, and Shopify CLI deployment. Use when setting up automated testing, deployment pipelines, or API version monitoring for Shopify apps. Trigger with phrases like "shopify CI", "shopify GitHub Actions", "shopify automated tests", "CI shopify", "shopify deploy pipeline".

Its SKILL.md is about 730 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 3 other files, including reference files (for example `references/github-actions-workflow.md` and `references/integration-test-structure.md`). Compatibility notes: Designed for Claude Code

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering CI/CD. It works with Shopify and GitHub Actions. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Setting up automated testing
  • Deployment pipelines
  • API version monitoring for Shopify apps
  • With phrases like shopify CI

Example prompts

  • “shopify CI”
  • “shopify GitHub Actions”
  • “shopify automated tests”
  • “/shopify-ci-integration”

Requirements

  • A credential in SHOPIFY_API_KEY
  • A credential in SHOPIFY_API_SECRET
  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Designed for Claude Code
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Read, Write, Edit, Bash(gh:*)

Workflow steps

3 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. GitHub Actions Workflow
  2. Configure Secrets
  3. Integration Test Structure

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Read
    • Write
    • Edit
    • Bash(gh:*)

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • gh
    • shopify

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • docs.github.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • SHOPIFY_PARTNERS_TOKEN
    • SHOPIFY_ACCESS_TOKEN
    • SHOPIFY_API_KEY
    • SHOPIFY_API_SECRET
    • SHOPIFY_TEST_TOKEN

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

    Designed for Claude Code

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Shopify CI Integration loads about 733 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.7k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 94 tokens; SKILL.md has 202 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~94
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~733
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.7k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Shopify CI Integration

Overview

Set up CI/CD pipelines for Shopify apps using GitHub Actions, including API version compatibility testing, Shopify CLI deployment, and extension validation.

Prerequisites

  • GitHub repository with Actions enabled
  • Shopify Partner account with CLI access
  • Test store access token for integration tests

Instructions

Step 1: GitHub Actions Workflow

Create a workflow with lint, test, API version check, and deploy jobs.

See GitHub Actions Workflow for the complete .github/workflows/shopify-ci.yml file.

Step 2: Configure Secrets
bash
# Store these in GitHub repository secrets
gh secret set SHOPIFY_API_KEY --body "your_api_key"
gh secret set SHOPIFY_API_SECRET --body "your_api_secret"
gh secret set SHOPIFY_TEST_STORE --body "your-dev-store.myshopify.com"
gh secret set SHOPIFY_TEST_TOKEN --body "shpat_test_token"
gh secret set SHOPIFY_PARTNERS_TOKEN --body "your_partners_cli_token"
Step 3: Integration Test Structure

Write integration tests that verify store connectivity, required scopes, and rate limit compliance. Tests skip automatically when SHOPIFY_ACCESS_TOKEN is not set.

See Integration Test Structure for the complete Vitest test file.

Output

  • CI pipeline with lint, typecheck, unit tests, and integration tests
  • API version deprecation monitoring
  • Automated deployment via Shopify CLI
  • Integration tests running against a test store
