What it does

Castai Security Basics is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Review CAST AI identity, Kubernetes RBAC, cloud IAM, Kvisor, network, and evidence boundaries against enabled features. Use when preparing onboarding, automation expansion, or security-agent changes. Trigger with: "secure CAST AI", "audit CAST AI permissions", "review Kvisor access".

Its SKILL.md is about 1.2k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/official-docs.md`). Compatibility notes: Requires declared CAST AI feature mode and read access to rendered Kubernetes and cloud permission definitions

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Container orchestration and Authorization and RBAC. It works with Kubernetes. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.

Example prompts

  • “secure CAST AI”
  • “audit CAST AI permissions”
  • “review Kvisor access”

Requirements

  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): Requires declared CAST AI feature mode and read access to rendered Kubernetes and cloud permission definitions
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Read, Grep, Write, Edit, Bash(kubectl:*), Bash(helm:*)

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Establish feature scope
  2. Review identity boundaries
  3. Review Kubernetes permissions
  4. Review cloud permissions
  5. Review network and data paths
  6. Record disposition

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Read
    • Grep
    • Write
    • Edit
    • Bash(kubectl:*)
    • Bash(helm:*)

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Links to these hosts (documentation or services it may open):

    • docs.cast.ai

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

Requires declared CAST AI feature mode and read access to rendered Kubernetes and cloud permission definitions

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Castai Security Basics loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.4k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 77 tokens; SKILL.md has 440 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~77
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.2k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.4k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

CAST AI Least-Privilege Review

Overview

Review permissions against the components actually enabled. Distinguish observation, optimization, operator lifecycle, Kvisor telemetry, optional cluster proxy, and cloud-provider access instead of labeling the entire installation read-only or full-access.

Prerequisites

  • Selected umbrella-chart mode and optional features
  • Rendered Helm resources, service accounts, RBAC, cloud IAM, and secret references
  • Organization roles, API-key inventory, network policy, and data-classification rules

Instructions

Step 1: Establish feature scope

Use Read and Grep to map read-only, Workload Autoscaler, Node Autoscaler, full, Kvisor options, reliability metrics, GPU or storage telemetry, operator management, and cluster proxy. Flag enabled components that lack a named business owner.

Step 2: Review identity boundaries

Separate human castctl login from service API keys. Verify organization role bindings, region, enterprise child targeting, storage, rotation, and revocation. Reject keys in values, URLs, Terraform output, logs, or support artifacts.

Step 3: Review Kubernetes permissions

Use Bash(helm:) to render the pinned installation and Bash(kubectl:) for bounded RBAC inspection. Compare each service account to current documented permissions. Account for agent deployment patching, operator lifecycle permissions, Kvisor cluster reads, optional scan jobs, and feature-gated token or pod-resize permissions.

Step 4: Review cloud permissions

Map each AWS, GCP, Azure, or other permission to monitoring, onboarding, automation, discovery, commitments, or storage telemetry. Do not reuse an automation role for read-only monitoring when the provider supports narrower access.

Step 5: Review network and data paths

Document regional egress, private connectivity, webhook destinations, telemetry classes, retention, and support-transfer controls. Do not invent a static IP allowlist or a broad 0.0.0.0/0 policy under the label of least privilege.

Show full SKILL.md (182 more words)Show less
Step 6: Record disposition

Use Write or Edit to mark every finding KEEP, NARROW, REMOVE, or INVESTIGATE with owner, evidence, risk, and rollback. Treat Kvisor security documentation as evolving and verify current product scope before enabling a feature.

Tool Discipline

Use Read and Grep for configuration and permission mapping. Use Write and Edit for the review record. Use Bash(helm:) and Bash(kubectl:) only for rendered and effective RBAC inspection; never retrieve Secret data or mutate access.

Output

  • Enabled-feature and component inventory
  • Human, service, Kubernetes, and cloud identity matrix
  • Network, telemetry, and retention boundary
  • Evidence-linked permission dispositions

Examples

A read-only deployment retains agent snapshot reads but rejects node-provisioning cloud actions. Kvisor storage telemetry is held until its provider permissions and data audience are explicitly approved.

Error Handling
