apex-reviewCross-cutting review of recent work — catches gaps between specialists.
Apex Review is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Cross-cutting review of recent work — catches gaps between specialists. Use when asked to "review what we built", "check the work", "pre-launch review", or after completing a significant chunk of work.
Its SKILL.md is about 780 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files (for example `.claude-plugin/plugin.json`).
It sits in Product & Project Management, covering Feature launches and release readiness. The repository describes itself as: Model-agnostic agent-skills platform with a harness-free canonical layer, verified adapters, and the ccpi package manager. Explore at tonsofskills.com. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit cfae287. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:
ReadWriteEditBashGlobGrepWebFetchWebSearchTaskTodoWrite…and 1 more on the same allowed-tools line.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
pythongitpipFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use git and pip, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Apex Review loads about 780 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 53 tokens; SKILL.md has 320 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.
allowed-tools: Read, Write, Edit, Bash, Glob, Grep, WebFetch, WebSearch, Task, TodoWrite, AskUserQuestionAutomated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Review recent work with a cross-cutting eye. Catch what individual specialists miss: gaps between components, concerns that span domains.
Follow the output format defined in docs/output-kit.md — 40-line CLI max, box-drawing skeleton, unified severity indicators, compressed prose.
cd team/apex/scripts && pip install -e . --quiet && python apex_agent/apex_scan.py . --skip-health --skip-deps --out /tmp/apex-scan.json 2>/dev/null || true
python apex_agent/apex_scan.py . --skip-endpoints 2>&1 | tail -20Read .reports/apex-<latest>.json if written. Treat CRITICAL/HIGH findings as blocking issues. Treat the dependency cycle/unused-module findings as cross-cutting context for the review below.
git log --oneline -30git diff HEAD~10 --statRead the key changed files to understand the shape of the work.
Review for cross-cutting concerns. For each area, ask whether a specialist would flag this:
Check for consistency — do the pieces fit together? Look for:
Present findings prioritized by risk. For each issue:
If critical issues found, recommend blocking. If all issues are minor, note them and give the green light. Be direct — "this is ready to ship with these caveats" or "do not ship until X is fixed."
Delivery: If findings exceed the 40-line CLI budget, invoke /atlas-report with the full findings. The HTML report is the output. CLI is the receipt only — print the box header, verdict (ship/block), top 3 issues, and the report path.

Cross-cutting review of recent work — catches gaps between specialists. Apex Review is an agent skill from jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace. Cross-cutting review of recent work — catches gaps between specialists.
Apex Review fits situations like: asked to review what we built; pre-launch review; after completing a significant chunk of work.
Run `npx skills add jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace --skill apex-review -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/ai-agency/tonone/skills/apex-review in jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace) into .claude/skills/apex-review in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace --skill apex-review -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (plugins/ai-agency/tonone/skills/apex-review in jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace) into .agents/skills/apex-review in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add jeremylongshore/tons-of-skills-marketplace --skill apex-review -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/apex-review, .gemini/skills/apex-review, .github/skills/apex-review and .opencode/skills/apex-review in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Apex Review needs the command-line tools its instructions call (python, git and pip). Our summary lists: Python 3. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Write, Edit, Bash, Glob, Grep, WebFetch, WebSearch, Task, TodoWrite, AskUserQuestion.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use git and pip, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Apex Review is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 780 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.1k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Apex Review: .NET MAUI Release Readiness (dotnet/maui, 23k stars), QA Release (jitpass/jit, 161 stars), Release Readiness Hardening (swyxio/skills, 176 stars) and Data Validation Patterns (revfactory/harness-100, 1.3k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
