Changelog Discipline is an agent skill from Inebrio/Routerly. Routerly's CHANGELOG.md rules — entry format, who writes it per tier, promotion from Unreleased to a version, and archive rotation. Use whenever shipping a feature or fix, or when Unreleased needs to be cut to a version.
Its SKILL.md is about 540 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.
It sits in Development, covering Changelog and release notes. The repository describes itself as: Self-hosted LLM gateway that routes requests across AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Mistral, Ollama) using intelligent multi-policy scoring — including an LLM-native… The licence is AGPL-3.0.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit bcf58f1. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

Changelog Discipline loads about 540 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 60 tokens; SKILL.md has 259 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from Inebrio/Routerly at commit bcf58f1, republished under its AGPL-3.0 licence (© Inebrio). 259 words, ~540 tokens.
.claude/skills/changelog-discipline/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).CHANGELOG.md is tracked in the repo, Keep a Changelog format. Every feature or bug fix adds its entry to the ## [Unreleased] section at the top as part of shipping the change — same gate as documentation (see Quality bar in CLAUDE.md). Never reconstruct a version's changelog after the fact from git history; that is expensive and was already needed once (see .claude/specs/ retrospectives around the 0.4.0 release-channels cut).
Promotion is not automatic. release.yml is fully push-triggered with no human step, and it does not commit back to main/develop (deliberate, see docs/contributing/releasing.md's "unstamped tag" note) — so nothing currently renames ## [Unreleased] to a dated version heading. Until that gap is closed, whoever notices [Unreleased] has grown past what a release just shipped renames it by hand: ## [Unreleased] → ## [X.Y.Z] — DATE, fresh empty ## [Unreleased] scaffold above it. Closing this properly means teaching release.config.mjs to commit CHANGELOG.md back to the branch (@semantic-release/git) — ask before adding that, it changes the release tag's git semantics.
Rotation. Once CHANGELOG.md holds more than 6 released versions, move the oldest ones verbatim into CHANGELOG-archive.md and leave a one-line pointer (See CHANGELOG-archive.md for versions before X.Y.0.) in their place — keeps the live file scannable without losing history.
