huggingface-paper-publisherIndexes research papers on the Hugging Face Hub from arXiv, links them to models and datasets, claims authorship and generates markdown research articles from templates.
The skill manages papers on the Hugging Face Hub through a Python script, paper_manager.py. It can add a paper to the Hub from its arXiv ID, claim and verify authorship, control which papers appear on your profile, and link papers to model cards and dataset cards through their metadata, where the Hub generates arxiv tags automatically.
It can also generate a research article in markdown from four templates (arxiv, ml-report, modern and standard), with a table of contents, standard sections and LaTeX math. Scripts run with uv run, which resolves their inline dependencies, and need an HF_TOKEN environment variable holding a token with write access. Examples and a quick reference file are included.
4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit c3ff942. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 1 file in scripts/ (Python), which the agent can run.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
uvhfFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:
huggingface.coarxiv.orgFrom URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:
HF_TOKENFrom names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Hugging Face Paper Publisher loads about 4.2k tokens when it runs, and up to ~5.3k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 58 tokens; SKILL.md has 1,071 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
The full file from huggingface/skills at commit c3ff942, republished under its Apache-2.0 licence (© huggingface). 1,071 words, ~4,172 tokens.

Indexes research papers on the Hugging Face Hub from arXiv, links them to models and datasets, claims authorship and generates markdown research articles from templates. py. It can add a paper to the Hub from its arXiv ID, claim and verify authorship, control which papers appear on your profile, and link papers to model cards and dataset cards through their metadata, where the Hub generates arxiv tags automatically.
Hugging Face Paper Publisher fits situations like: adding an arXiv paper to the Hugging Face Hub; linking a paper to a model card or dataset card; claiming authorship of a paper on the Hub; writing a research article in markdown from a template.
Run `npx skills add huggingface/skills --skill huggingface-paper-publisher -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/huggingface-paper-publisher in huggingface/skills) into .claude/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add huggingface/skills --skill huggingface-paper-publisher -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/huggingface-paper-publisher in huggingface/skills) into .agents/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add huggingface/skills --skill huggingface-paper-publisher -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher, .gemini/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher, .github/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher and .opencode/skills/huggingface-paper-publisher in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Hugging Face Paper Publisher needs Python for the scripts in its folder, the command-line tools its instructions call (uv and hf) and credentials named HF_TOKEN. Our summary lists: Python with uv to run scripts/paper_manager.py; An HF_TOKEN environment variable with a Hugging Face write-access token.
SKILL.md names 2 domains. In commands or code: huggingface.co and arxiv.org; the agent is likely to contact these when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Hugging Face Paper Publisher is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 4.2k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 17k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.1k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Hugging Face Paper Publisher: Citation Management (K-Dense-AI/claude-scientific-writer, 2.4k stars), Citation Management (foryourhealth111-pixel/Vibe-Skills, 3.6k stars), Academic Aio (Aperivue/medsci-skills, 333 stars) and Paper2code (PrathamLearnsToCode/paper2code, 1.5k stars).
