What it does

Tyro is an agent skill from hasinhayder/tyro. Framework-maintainer skill for the Tyro Laravel authorization package

Its SKILL.md is about 1.4k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 29 other files (for example `rules/api-design.md`, `rules/architecture.md` and `rules/artisan-commands.md`).

It sits in Backend & APIs, covering Authorization and RBAC and Backend development. It works with Laravel and PHP. The repository describes itself as: Tyro is the complete authentication, roles & privileges package for Laravel 12 & 13: a modern RBAC/ACL solution built on Laravel Sanctum, with a fantastic CLI that manages… The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Identify the concern you are working on (roles, permissions, caching, commands, etc.)
  2. Read the corresponding rule file from the Quick Reference table above
  3. Check cross-referenced files listed at the bottom of each rule file
  4. Follow existing codebase conventions before introducing new patterns (Consistency First)
  5. Run the full test suite after changes: vendor/bin/pest
  6. Run the linter after changes: vendor/bin/pint --test

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 87e7d43. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Tyro loads about 1.4k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 19 tokens; SKILL.md has 447 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~19
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.4k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Tyro Authorization Framework Skill

Description

This skill provides engineering rules for maintaining and extending Tyro, a reusable Laravel authorization framework providing role-based access control (RBAC), permissions, privileges, suspensions, authorization caching, audit logging, and Artisan tooling.

Tyro is the authorization layer of the Tyro ecosystem. Related packages (Tyro Login, Tyro Dashboard) depend on Tyro's public APIs.

This skill treats every rule as a framework contract. Changes must preserve backward compatibility, avoid privilege escalation, and follow established conventions.

Activation Triggers

Activate this skill when working on:

  • Tyro package source code under src/
  • Tyro configuration in config/tyro.php
  • Tyro migrations in database/migrations/
  • Tyro seeders in database/seeders/
  • Tyro tests in tests/
  • Tyro Artisan commands
  • Tyro middleware, controllers, or Blade directives
  • Tyro authorization logic, permission resolution, or caching
  • Any code that imports HasinHayder\Tyro\ namespace

Consistency First

Before introducing any new pattern, check whether an established convention already exists in the Tyro codebase.

  • Follow existing package conventions (HasinHayder\Tyro namespace, PSR-4 autoloading)
  • Follow existing command conventions (tyro:{entity}-{action}, tyro:sys-{action}, tyro:auth-{action})
  • Follow existing event conventions ({entity}.{action} dot notation for audit events)
  • Follow existing cache conventions (tyro:user-{userId}:roles, tyro:user-{userId}:privileges)
  • Follow existing naming conventions (PascalCase classes, kebab-case Artisan signatures, snake_case config keys)
  • Follow existing extension-point conventions (configurable table names, configurable model classes)

Consistency is more important than theoretical perfection.

How To Apply

Every rule file follows this structure:

  • Why It Matters — architectural reasoning
  • Incorrect — realistic bad examples
  • Correct — preferred implementation
  • Notes — additional practical guidance

When should I use Tyro?

Tyro fits situations like: tasks that involve Authorization and RBAC; tasks that involve Backend development.

How do I install Tyro in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add hasinhayder/tyro --skill tyro -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/tyro in hasinhayder/tyro) into .claude/skills/tyro in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Tyro in Codex?

Run `npx skills add hasinhayder/tyro --skill tyro -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/tyro in hasinhayder/tyro) into .agents/skills/tyro in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Tyro in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add hasinhayder/tyro --skill tyro -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/tyro, .gemini/skills/tyro, .github/skills/tyro and .opencode/skills/tyro in your project.

What does Tyro need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Tyro is instructions for the agent only.

Does Tyro access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Tyro safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
