Speckit Token Budget Usage is an agent skill from haru/redmine_ai_helper. Show token usage for every SDD artifact in the active feature, the projected context window for each upcoming phase, and the savings already realized by token-budget (full backups vs current files).
Its SKILL.md is about 1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts. Compatibility notes: Requires spec-kit project structure with .specify/ directory
It sits in AI & LLM Engineering, covering LLM cost and token optimization and Spec-driven development. The repository describes itself as: A Redmine plugin that adds AI agents, MCP Server, smart completion, and vector search. The licence is MIT.
5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 3cd87d6. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Requires spec-kit project structure with .specify/ directory
From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Speckit Token Budget Usage loads about 1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 56 tokens; SKILL.md has 279 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.
The full file from haru/redmine_ai_helper at commit 3cd87d6, republished under its MIT licence (© haru). 279 words, ~1,009 tokens.
.claude/skills/speckit-token-budget-usage/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). The user has invoked /speckit.token-budget.usage with arguments: $ARGUMENTS.
Inspect the active feature directory and produce a one-screen token-usage dashboard. Read-only — never modify artifacts.
Default scope: the active feature (from current git branch). If
$ARGUMENTS contains --all, walk every feature under specs/. If it
contains --feature=<name>, target that feature.
For each artifact present, record:
estimate_tokens.sh).full.md backup exists, and its token count if so<!-- token-budget: compacted --> markerStandard artifact set: constitution.md, spec.md, plan.md,
research.md, data-model.md, quickstart.md, tasks.md, every file
in contracts/, plus any extra .md files in the feature root (treat
as auxiliary).
For each upcoming phase the feature has not yet completed, sum the
artifacts it would normally consume (from scope.phase_inputs in
token-budget-config.yml). Show two numbers per phase: current size,
and size if every artifact were compacted (estimated as 60% for medium,
45% for aggressive — these are heuristics, not guarantees, and should
be labeled as such).
Output exactly this layout. Right-align numbers. Use thousands separators. Pad with spaces, not tabs.

Concise mode: <on|off> (memory file: <path>)If --all was passed, repeat the artifact table once per feature and
add a final cross-feature roll-up showing the total savings.
If any single artifact exceeds 5,000 tokens and is not compacted, append a one-line nudge:
Suggestion: tasks.md is 6,140 tokens. /speckit.token-budget.compact tasks
would likely save ~40%.If concise mode is off and the project is large (more than 12k total tokens), suggest:
Suggestion: /speckit.token-budget.concise on (estimated 5–15% output savings)Only emit suggestions that are actually warranted by the numbers. No generic advice.
End the response. The dashboard is the deliverable.
