What it does

This skill governs content and structure for academic presentations and works alongside a separate PPTX skill that handles the file itself, so both must be read before writing code or creating files. It first identifies the presentation type. Structured Argument is the default for conference papers, seminars, thesis defenses and grant briefings, with priority on argument structure, then data, layout and aesthetics, while a Visual or Narrative mode covers public engagement talks and lay-audience pitches.

Before building, the agent produces a slide-by-slide outline with title, action title and exhibit type, and confirms it with you when the deck exceeds 10 slides or the content is complex. A ghost deck test requires that the action titles, read in sequence, tell the whole argument. Design follows communication-first rules that override the PPTX skill's design-forward defaults, such as a white background for content slides. The folder holds content guidelines, slide patterns for each slide type and a best-practices PDF, and the licence is proprietary.

When your agent uses it

  • Preparing a conference talk or seminar deck
  • Building slides for a thesis defense
  • Making a grant briefing presentation with a structured argument
  • Checking a deck outline with the ghost deck test

Example prompts

  • “Make slides for my paper on soil carbon storage for a conference talk.”
  • “Create a presentation for my dissertation defense and outline it first.”
  • “Build a deck for my grant proposal briefing.”

Requirements

  • The PPTX skill, for creating and editing the file

Workflow steps

4 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. Identify Presentation Type
  2. Plan the Deck Before Creating Any Slides
  3. Apply Design Standards
  4. Build and QA

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 9f2b703. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • pip
    • npm

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use pip and npm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Academic Presentations loads about 1.9k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 200 tokens; SKILL.md has 797 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~200
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.9k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Its licence (Proprietary) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 797 words (~1,871 tokens).
