oma-bootstrapInstalls or checks the oma CLI and its runtimes (bun, uv, serena) in a fresh workspace so that oma-* skills can run their commands.
Marketplace installs of the oma skills ship only the instruction text, not the binaries, so a new workspace may report that `oma` or `serena` cannot be found. This skill covers that gap. The agent checks `command -v oma` and `oma --version`, and stops if both work. Otherwise it runs the project's installer in non-interactive mode with `OMA_INSTALL_NO_RUN=1`, which adds bun, uv, serena-agent and cue when they are missing, then installs the CLI globally with `bun install --global oh-my-agent`.
It then runs `oma install --yes` to create a `.agents/` folder with the default preset, leaving existing files alone, and finishes with `oma doctor` to confirm serena is on the path and the project is registered. The agent should ask before wiring a repository that is not yours or where `.agents/` has local changes, should never reimplement an oma command by hand, and must not run the installer headless without that variable because its setup waits on the terminal.
5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 0e87272. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:
uvcurlbashbunwgetFrom the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use uv, curl and wget, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
oma Bootstrap loads about 719 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 80 tokens; SKILL.md has 338 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/oma-bootstrap/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). The oma-* skills in this plugin describe what to do. Several of them delegate
the mechanics to the oma CLI (oma agent spawn, oma market run,
oma recap, oma hook run, oma doctor), and code search expects the
Serena MCP binary. Marketplace installs ship the skill text, not the binaries,
so a fresh workspace may have neither.
oma ... command and command -v oma is empty.oma: command not found or serena: command not found..agents/ directory and a skill needs project state
(.agents/state/, .agents/results/, oma-config.yaml).Skip this skill when oma --version already prints a version.
Run from the repository root. Every step is idempotent; rerunning is safe.
Check: command -v oma && oma --version. If both succeed, stop here.
Provision the runtimes with the official installer in non-interactive
mode. It installs bun, uv, serena-agent, and cue when missing, and
OMA_INSTALL_NO_RUN=1 skips the interactive setup it would otherwise
launch at the end:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/first-fluke/oh-my-agent/main/cli/install.sh \
| OMA_INSTALL_NO_RUN=1 bash
export PATH="$HOME/.bun/bin:$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"Without curl, use wget -qO- in its place. Each dependency is
best-effort: the installer warns and continues when one fails.
Install the CLI as a persistent global binary (skills call bare oma):
bun install --global oh-my-agentWire the project non-interactively. This creates .agents/ with the
default preset and leaves existing files untouched:
oma install --yesVerify: oma doctor. It reports whether serena is on PATH and whether
the project is registered. Report any warning before continuing with the
original task.
oma install --yes when the repository is not yours or when
.agents/ already exists with local changes.oma command by hand. If the CLI
cannot be installed, say so and complete only the parts of the task that do
not need it.OMA_INSTALL_NO_RUN=1 in a headless Bot:
the interactive setup reads from /dev/tty and hangs.serena is still missing after step 2, run
uv tool install -p 3.13 serena-agent@latest --prerelease=allow once, then
uv tool update-shell.© first-fluke, MIT. Rendered from Markdown: HTML in the file is shown as text, images as links, and headings moved down two levels. Raw file

oma Bootstrap fits situations like: A skill tells the agent to run an oma command and the shell says oma: command not found; the first task in a fresh Cursor workspace needs the oma tooling; A skill needs `.agents/` project state and the folder does not exist yet.
Run `npx skills add first-fluke/oh-my-agent --skill oma-bootstrap -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.cursor-plugin/skills/oma-bootstrap in first-fluke/oh-my-agent) into .claude/skills/oma-bootstrap in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add first-fluke/oh-my-agent --skill oma-bootstrap -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/oma-bootstrap, .gemini/skills/oma-bootstrap, .github/skills/oma-bootstrap and .opencode/skills/oma-bootstrap in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, oma Bootstrap needs the command-line tools its instructions call (uv, curl, bash, bun and wget). Our summary lists: Network access to download the installer from GitHub; `curl` or `wget`; Permission to install bun, uv and serena-agent on the machine.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use uv, curl and wget, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
oma Bootstrap is published under the MIT licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 719 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with oma Bootstrap: Skillshare (runkids/skillshare, 2.7k stars), PicoClaw Agent (sipeed/picoclaw, 30k stars), AgentSkillsHub Skill Finder (zhuyansen/agent-skills-hub, 407 stars) and Sandboxed.sh Library Management (Th0rgal/sandboxed.sh, 515 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
