What it does

Release MCP is an agent skill from fastrepl/anarlog. Review and verify Anarlog local and hosted MCP protocols, contracts, authentication, access boundaries, and shipped runtime behavior during releases.

Its SKILL.md is about 580 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Backend & APIs, covering MCP servers. It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: Open source Granola AI Alternative. The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Compare product changes with apps/cli/src/mcp.rs,
  2. Preserve local proposal-approval and hosted read-only boundaries, authentication,
  3. Run affected local and hosted contract/auth tests from cli_ci.yaml and
  4. For each shipped desktop platform, use the packaged CLI and isolated fixture
  5. Publish required hosted changes through Release API.
  6. Review shared host manifests/setup references once via

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ef50a51. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Release MCP loads about 583 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 40 tokens; SKILL.md has 238 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~40
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~583

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Release MCP

Review every release. Inherit scope and session authorization from Release a New Version.

  1. Compare product changes with apps/cli/src/mcp.rs, crates/api-cloud/src/mcp.rs, crates/mcp, shared crates/agent-access, and current contract tests. Review initialization, tools/resources, schemas, pagination, errors, capability exposure, and local/hosted differences. Derive expected tools from current source, never a remembered tool count.
  2. Preserve local proposal-approval and hosted read-only boundaries, authentication, scopes, and workspace isolation. Implement required coverage before candidate freeze or document the intentional difference/explicit deferral. Do not infer supported agent behavior from the database schema alone.
  3. Run affected local and hosted contract/auth tests from cli_ci.yaml and api_ci.yaml, including allowed and denied paths. Reuse the CLI test evidence rather than rerunning identical shared checks.
  4. For each shipped desktop platform, use the packaged CLI and isolated fixture database for a real stdio initialize/discovery exchange and affected calls. Keep stdout protocol-only and verify clean shutdown. Reuse the artifact and verify-packaged-cli.py evidence from Release CLI.
  5. Publish required hosted changes through Release API. Verify the serving revision, authentication discovery/OAuth resource metadata, and authenticated discovery plus an affected operation with an authorized test account. Health/401 responses or mocks are not hosted runtime acceptance. Keep writes confined to supported local disposable fixtures and approval rules.
  6. Review shared host manifests/setup references once via Agent packages. Update public setup instructions through Release Docs.

Return local and hosted revisions, contract decisions, protocol/auth evidence, package publication or reuse, and unavailable credentials or runtime checks.
