What it does

Release CLI is an agent skill from fastrepl/anarlog. Review Anarlog CLI and agent-access coverage, validate shared agent packages, and verify the CLI shipped in each desktop artifact and install path.

Its SKILL.md is about 600 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/agent-packages.md`).

It works with Model Context Protocol. The repository describes itself as: Open source Granola AI Alternative. The licence is MIT.

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Compare user-visible product changes with apps/cli, crates/agent-access,
  2. Follow cli_ci.yaml and root AGENTS.md: run affected locked tests, Clippy
  3. Complete the shared Agent packages review once
  4. Verify the CLI extracted from each final signed desktop artifact. Confirm
  5. Check help, loading/runtime dependencies, output/exit codes and shutdown. After

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 259a04e. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Release CLI loads about 600 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.1k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 40 tokens; SKILL.md has 261 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~40
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~600
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.1k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Release CLI

Review every release. Inherit scope and session authorization from Release a New Version.

  1. Compare user-visible product changes with apps/cli, crates/agent-access, help and CLI contract snapshots. Check commands, flags, JSON fields/errors, pagination, local/cloud selection, output/exit codes, and supported formats. Implement required parity before candidate freeze; document intentional capability differences, reuse reasons, and explicit deferrals.
  2. Follow cli_ci.yaml and root AGENTS.md: run affected locked tests, Clippy with the workflow flags, release CLI build, isolated smoke tests, and docs/skill validation. Preserve Linux and Windows verification; a local macOS executable does not establish other platforms' results. Coordinate public examples with Release Docs.
  3. Complete the shared Agent packages review once with Release MCP. The authored skill, generated mirrors, public documentation, and installed plugin are separate publication states.
  4. Verify the CLI extracted from each final signed desktop artifact. Confirm APP_VERSION reached the build and packaged --version matches the requested desktop release. Run scripts/verify-packaged-cli.py <package-root> <version> as used in the platform workflow, plus affected command checks against isolated fixtures. Reuse its MCP results with Release MCP. A developer binary on PATH, a staging package, or unit tests alone cannot verify the final stable package.
  5. Check help, loading/runtime dependencies, output/exit codes and shutdown. After upgrade, verify the supported CLI installer resolves the new bundled binary; consult skills/anarlog/references/setup.md and the current installer. Never use user data as a disposable fixture or copy/reset databases and sync identity.

Return parity decisions, source and artifact versions/hashes, checks, supported install/update evidence, and unavailable platforms or pending work. A mobile-only release does not authorize publishing an unrelated desktop CLI.

To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/release-cli, .gemini/skills/release-cli, .github/skills/release-cli and .opencode/skills/release-cli in your project.

What does Release CLI need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Release CLI is instructions for the agent only.

Does Release CLI access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Release CLI safe to install?
