What it does

Testing Standards is an agent skill from facioquo/stock-indicators-dotnet. Test conventions for the indicator library — base class and test interface per style, required test methods, MethodNameStateUnderTestExpectedBehavior naming, shared bar fixtures, FluentAssertions and IsExactly parity, and Money precision constants. Use when creating or editing any file under tests/Library/, when a test class fails to compile for a missing abstract or interface method, or when choosing an assertion tolerance.

Its SKILL.md is about 900 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 2 other files, including reference files (for example `references/patterns.md`).

It sits in Business, Finance & HR, covering Trading and backtesting. The repository describes itself as: Stock Indicators for .NET is a C NuGet package that transforms raw equity, commodity, forex, or cryptocurrency financial market price quotes into technical indicators and trading… The licence is Apache-2.0.

When your agent uses it

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit e439ae4. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • dotnet

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Testing Standards loads about 895 tokens when it runs, and up to ~1.8k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 114 tokens; SKILL.md has 321 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~114
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~895
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~1.8k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Test conventions for the indicator library — base class and test interface per style, required test methods, `MethodName_StateUnderTest_ExpectedBehavior` naming, shared bar fixtures, FluentAssertions and `IsExactly` parity, and `Money*` precision constants. Use when creating or editing any file under `tests/Library/`, when a test class fails to compile for a missing abstract or interface method, or when choosing an assertion tolerance.

Testing standards

Tests use MSTest with FluentAssertions. Base classes and test interfaces live in tests/Library/TestBase/; assertion helpers live in tests/Library/TestTools/TestAssert.cs.

Load required test methods and precision constants before writing a new test class or picking a Money* tolerance.

Base class per test file

Test fileNamespaceBase classTest interfaces
{Name}SeriesTests.csStaticSeriesStaticSeriesTestBasenone
{Name}BufferListTests.csBufferListsBufferListTestBaseITestChainBufferList or ITestBarBufferList, plus ITestCustomBufferListCache for a custom cache
{Name}HubTests.csStreamHubsStreamHubTestBaseITestChainObserver or ITestBarObserver, plus ITestChainProvider when the hub feeds other hubs
{Name}RegressionTests.csRegressionRegressionTestBase<TResult>none
{Name}CatalogTests.csCataloggingTestBasenone

StaticSeriesTestBase and StreamHubTestBase derive from TestBaseWithPrecision, which supplies the Money* constants. BufferListTestBase and RegressionTestBase<TResult> derive from TestBase and do not.

Naming

Name every test method MethodName_StateUnderTest_ExpectedBehavior, for example Exceptions_InvalidLookback_ThrowsArgumentOutOfRangeException.

Fixtures

Use the static bar sets on TestBase instead of loading data: Bars (the 502-bar default set from Data.GetDefault()), BadBars, Nobars, Onebar, OtherBars, BigBars, LongishBars, ZeroesBars, and others. StreamHubTestBase.RevisedBars is Bars with index 495 removed, for late-arrival and removal tests.

Assertions

  • Assert style parity with actuals.IsExactly(expected), which compares every member in strict order. Never assert parity with Should().Be() or a bare BeEquivalentTo().
  • Assert manually calculated spot values with BeApproximately(expected, Money4) or the tightest Money* constant the reference data supports.
  • Assert a bounded indicator's documented range with sut.IsBetween(static x => x.WilliamsR, -100, 0), which skips null and NaN values.
  • Assert exceptions with FluentActions.Invoking(() => ...).Should().ThrowExactly<ArgumentOutOfRangeException>().

Running

Unit runs use tests/tests.unit.runsettings, which excludes the Regression and Integration categories. Run regression tests with --settings tests/tests.regression.runsettings. The code-completion skill owns the full quality-gate commands and VS Code task names.

Do not do these

  • Do not widen a Money* tolerance to absorb floating-point drift between styles; parity is IsExactly, and a mismatch is a bug.
  • Do not edit a *.standard.json regression baseline by hand; regenerate it with dotnet run --project tools/baselining -- --indicator {UIID} after an intended calculation change.
  • Do not skip a required abstract or interface method by omitting the interface; every new test class declares the interfaces for its style.
