Chisle Review

Review a diff or file through the Chisle lens: flag over-engineering, speculative abstractions, reinvented stdlib, and verbose code that a lazier approach would shrink.

code-review-eleganceLooks at a pull request for the smallest good design, hunting for simplifications and architectural moves that remove whole classes of problems.
Review runs through a persona called CodeReviewElegance, which asks whether the PR is the minimal solution, whether an abstraction really reduces complexity, and whether a different architecture could remove a whole class of failure modes. It favors fewer concepts, smaller state surfaces and clearer data flow, and points to spots where a helper, type boundary, schema shape or ownership boundary would simplify the rest of the patch.
Formatting, naming taste and idioms are out of scope unless they hurt design clarity, and the reviewer should not demand a grand abstraction when a direct local change is enough. Output leads with findings ordered by impact, each with a priority label such as P2, a title and a tight file and line reference. When nothing qualifies, the review says the PR is already minimal for its scope and notes any residual design risk. An `agents/openai.yaml` file is included.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 2fb4aec. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md (its code samples are markdown).
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

Elegance-Focused Code Review loads about 473 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 73 tokens; SKILL.md has 186 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/code-review-elegance/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder). This skill also uses 1 other file; get the full folder from GitHub.Review for the best small design, not just acceptable code. Ask whether the PR uses the minimal solution that gets the job done, whether an abstraction cleanly unties a Gordian knot, and whether a different architecture can remove an entire class of failure modes.
Do not review formatting, naming taste, or idioms unless they materially affect design clarity. Do not ask for a grand abstraction when a direct local change is enough.
Lead with findings ordered by impact. Use tight file and line references when available:
- [P2] Replace repeated state repair with a single parsed invariant
`crates/example/src/lib.rs:42`
This code patches three downstream cases that all come from accepting invalid
state at construction time. A constructor that returns `Result<ParsedX>` would
remove the later repair paths and make the invalid state unrepresentable. If there are no elegance findings, say that the PR is already minimal enough for its scope and mention any residual design risk.

Green-PT/honey-for-devs
Review a diff for what Honey would cut — over-engineering (speculative generality, hand-rolled stdlib, single-caller abstractions) and over-verbosity (dead code, narration, redundant comments).
eric-tramel/moraine
Cuts and publishes a Moraine release end to end: version bump PR, tag, GitHub release notes, workflow check and PyPI package verification.

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Elegance-Focused Code Review is instructions for the agent only.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Elegance-Focused Code Review is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 473 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 1.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
