What it does

Write Issue is an agent skill from equinor/design-system. Write or revise a GitHub issue (title and body) for this repository from notes, screenshots or a conversation. Use whenever opening an issue, running gh issue create or gh issue edit, or when the user asks for an issue to be written.

Its SKILL.md is about 360 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Frontend & Design, covering Design systems. It works with GitHub. The repository describes itself as: The Equinor design system. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • Opening an issue
  • Running gh issue create
  • The user asks for an issue to be written

Example prompts

  • “/write-issue”

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. Gather the input: the notes, screenshots or conversation in $ARGUMENTS, plus any code or issues they point to. If $ARGUMENTS is empty, as…
  2. Separate what was observed from what is assumed. Ask the user about gaps instead of guessing.
  3. Pick the matching template in .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/, if any, and draft per § Issues in the canonical doc.
  4. Check the draft against § Before posting. Count the prose and cut until it is within 400 words.
  5. Show the draft to the user. Run gh issue create or gh issue edit only after they approve it.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 35d1b25. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • gh

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use gh, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Write Issue loads about 362 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 62 tokens; SKILL.md has 175 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~62
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~362

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Write an issue

Explain a problem or proposed change clearly enough for someone to investigate it or decide what to do next.

Canonical reference: documentation/agent-instructions/PR_AND_ISSUE_WRITING.md. Read it before drafting. It holds the word limit, the writing restrictions, the issue rules, an example and the checklist before posting.

Steps

  1. Gather the input: the notes, screenshots or conversation in $ARGUMENTS, plus any code or issues they point to. If $ARGUMENTS is empty, as when the skill is applied from a request in the conversation, take the input from the conversation instead. Check gh issue list --search for an existing issue on the same problem.
