What it does

Seedance Lighting is an agent skill from Emily2040/seedance-2.0. This skill should be used when the user asks for lighting design, atmosphere, time of day, color temperature, shadow, reflections, weather light, practical lights, or mood transitions in Seedance 2.0.

Its SKILL.md is about 1.1k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

It sits in Media & Creative, covering AI video generation. It works with Seedance. The repository describes itself as: Comprehensive production pipeline for quad-modal AI filmmaking with Seedance 2.0. The licence is MIT.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4668457. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Seedance Lighting loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 55 tokens; SKILL.md has 528 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~55
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~1.1k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

seedance-lighting

Before producing prompt text, a prompt-ready block, a rewrite, an example, or a compiled clip, load the Director's Read, classify the brief, and complete its canonical narrative or non-narrative record. Translate that record into visible or audible carriers and keep its internal labels out of final generation prose.

Lighting should describe physical sources and transitions, not abstract beauty. A useful lighting prompt tells the model where the light comes from, its color temperature, how shadows behave, what atmosphere catches the light, and whether the light changes during the clip.

Load color-pipeline-aces when the user asks for ACES, HDR/SDR, show look, grade, LUT, CDL, product color, or professional color handoff. Load directing-engine for lighting as emotion - ratio, key direction, color temperature, motivation, and light that changes with the dramatic turn - so the light expresses the scene's intention rather than just illuminating it.

Intent

When users say mood words, they are almost always asking for light. This skill's purpose is to take "cozy," "lonely," or "electric" and answer with a sun, a lamp, or a window - because that is where feeling physically lives in a frame. Give them their emotion back as a light source they can point to.

Lighting Contract

State: key source, direction, color temperature, atmosphere, shadow behavior, reflective behavior, and any transition.

Mood or taskPrompt-ready lightingWhy it works
Product luxurynarrow warm strip light sweeps across brushed metal, black acrylic reflection remains cleanMaterial and reflection are controlled.

Source Selection

Use practical lamps for interiors, intimacy, and visible motivation. Use window light for naturalism and food or lifestyle scenes. Use rim light when separation matters. Use hard light for noir, harsh sun, or graphic shadows. Use soft light for beauty, skin, product polish, and children or family scenes. Use moving light when the scene needs a visible change.

Color and Atmosphere

Name color temperature only when it matters: warm tungsten, cool moonlight, green fluorescent, sodium streetlight, neutral overcast daylight. Add atmosphere sparingly: mist, dust, rain streaks, smoke, or condensation should interact with the light and the subject, not merely decorate the frame.

Failure Fixes

If an output looks flat, add a motivated key source, rim separation, and one material-specific highlight. If it looks over-processed, remove broad style claims and specify softer contrast. If flicker or lighting jumps appear, make the light source stable and remove competing transitions.

Sequence State

When sequence state is present, inherit persistent practical sources, key direction, lighting phase, current clip scope, continuity locks, exact reference tags, and reserved future beats. Do not reset day/night, practical lamps, or weather light unless the transition or allowed changes explicitly permit it.

Output Contract

Return a compact lighting block, a transition note if needed, and one prompt-ready integrated sentence.
