seedance-charactersKeeps a recurring AI-video character's identity, wardrobe and expressions stable across shots with a stable tag, an identity anchor and one explicit action per character.
The skill treats every recurring character as a continuing cast member rather than a stranger re-cast for each clip, on the premise that a drifting face reads to the user as a broken promise about someone they invented, built or care about, not as a rendering glitch. Each character gets a stable tag such as Character A or an uploaded-image reference, plus an identity anchor covering age range, silhouette, hair and wardrobe, a position, an assigned action with an endpoint, an expression described as an observable behavior like a blink or a glance, and a constraint for what must stay unchanged.
For scenes with more than one character, it requires assigning actions separately to each named character rather than a shared verb like they argue, naming the exact contact point when characters touch, and keeping background motion simple behind one identified hero subject in a crowd. It cross-references a shot-list-continuity reference for identity, wardrobe and eyeline that must survive across multiple shots, and a directing-engine reference for deepening performance once the basic blocking is locked. The excerpt is cut off while introducing a three-tier action hierarchy for multi-person scenes.
3 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4668457. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

Seedance Character Consistency Guide loads about 1.2k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 61 tokens; SKILL.md has 563 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

.claude/skills/seedance-characters/SKILL.md (or your agent's skills folder).Use this for identity, consistency, multi-character blocking, wardrobe continuity, hand safety, expression control, and likeness-sensitive character guidance. Character prompting must remove ambiguity before adding style.
Load shot-list-continuity when character identity, wardrobe, props, eyeline, screen direction, or emotional state must survive across multiple shots. Load directing-engine to deepen performance after the canonical lane decision. For dramatic acting, use playable objectives and subtext; for observation or direct expression, preserve the requested movement, rhythm, or delight without inventing a conflict. Keep the intended performance register consistent with the project's voice.
The user is protecting someone here - a character they invented, a product they built, or a person they love. Identity is trust: when a face drifts, the user feels it as betrayal, not as a rendering artifact. Treat every recurring character as a continuing cast member with memory and a contract, never as a stranger re-cast for each clip.
Assign each character a stable tag: Character A, Character B, @Image1 subject, or a user-provided original name. After more than one character appears, do not use ambiguous pronouns. Keep tag, role, appearance, wardrobe, position, action, and emotional beat consistent.
| Field | Prompt use |
|---|---|
| Tag | Character A or @Image1 subject |
| Identity anchor | Age range, silhouette, hair, wardrobe, or authorized reference role |
| Position | Foreground/background, left/right, seated/standing |
| Action | One assigned verb and endpoint |
| Expression | Observable behavior such as blink, glance, smile, grip, pause |
| Constraint | What must stay unchanged |
Assign actions separately: Character A lowers the envelope; Character B remains in the doorway. Do not write they argue dramatically when the model must decide who moves. If contact occurs, describe the contact point and endpoint. For crowd scenes, identify the hero subject and keep background motion simple.
Field-observed from Chinese production practice; the strongest known stabilizer for multi-person scenes. Give every visible person an action from exactly one tier:
Character B's lip corner lifts and she holds a half-second glance.Hands and faces degrade under complex choreography. Keep hands visible but simple, avoid rapid finger actions, avoid face-touching during dialogue, and lock the camera for lip-sync or portrait preservation. Use props to show emotion when facial precision is fragile.
For real-person likeness, do not infer consent from an uploaded asset. Treat portrait, face, and voice workflows as authorization-dependent and surface-specific. If authorization is unclear, rewrite to an original character archetype while preserving the scene function.
When sequence state is present, inherit wardrobe, hair, screen geography, eyeline, pose, emotional state, current clip scope, continuity locks, exact reference tags, and reserved future beats. Canonical identity references control identity; accepted footage controls transient opening state. Do not let a motion or continuity source overwrite immutable character locks.
Return a character card, tag map, action assignments, continuity constraints, and any safety or authorization note.

Seedance Character Consistency Guide fits situations like: keeping a character's face, wardrobe and pose consistent across multiple generated shots; writing a multi-character scene where each person needs a distinct, trackable action; blocking a crowd scene while keeping one hero subject clearly identified.
