What it does

Windows Powershell is an agent skill from EliasOulkadi/shokunin. Windows 11 system administration with PowerShell — system info reporting, hardware monitoring, package management (winget/scoop), disk cleanup, performance optimization, environment configuration, PowerShell profile setup with aliases and autocomplete, and Task Scheduler automation. Use when user asks to check system info, install tools on Windows, clean up disk space, set up PowerShell profile, or automate Windows tasks. Do NOT use for Linux administration, cross-platform scripting, or network infrastructure…

Its SKILL.md is about 2.3k tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 8 other files, including scripts, reference files and assets (for example `references/powershell-mastery.md`). Compatibility notes: opencode

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Linux administration and Performance optimization. It works with PowerShell and Windows. The repository describes itself as: 職人 Shokunin 62 AI agent skills for OpenCode, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf. ChromaDB memory, MCP servers, declarative self-updates. Multi-model, open source, zero cost. The licence is MIT.

When your agent uses it

  • User asks to check system info
  • Install tools on Windows
  • Clean up disk space
  • Set up PowerShell profile

Example prompts

  • “Use the windows-powershell skill to window 11 system administration with PowerShell — system info reporting, hardware monitoring, package management…”
  • “/windows-powershell”

Requirements

  • Python 3
  • PowerShell
  • Docker
  • Compatibility (from SKILL.md): opencode
  • Pre-approved tools (allowed-tools): Read, Bash, Write

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the step headings in SKILL.md.

  1. System health check
  2. System cleanup
  3. Install development tools
  4. Set up PowerShell profile
  5. Schedule recurring maintenance

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 4c68e5b. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves these tools, so the agent can use them without asking each time:

    • Read
    • Bash
    • Write

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

Ships 3 files in scripts/ (PowerShell), which the agent can run.

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • node
    • winget

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • speedtest.url

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

  • Compatibility

    opencode

From compatibility in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

Context cost

Windows Powershell loads about 2.3k tokens when it runs, and up to ~4.5k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 136 tokens; SKILL.md has 532 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~136
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~2.3k
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~4.5k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check: notes

The automated check noted patterns worth knowing about, such as sudo or a known installer.

  • NotePre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: Bash)SKILL.md
    allowed-tools: Read, Bash, Write

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.

Windows PowerShell

Windows 11 system administration and automation with PowerShell 7.

Workflow

Step 1: System health check
powershell
scripts/system-info.ps1

Outputs:

  • OS: Windows 11 build, edition, install date
  • CPU: Model, cores, current usage %
  • RAM: Total, used, free, usage %
  • Disk: Per drive: total, used, free, usage %
  • Top 5 processes by memory usage
  • Network: Adapters, IP addresses
  • Uptime: Days since last restart
  • Windows Updates: Pending update count

If RAM usage > 80% or disk usage > 90%: proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: System cleanup
powershell
# Preview what would be cleaned
scripts/cleanup-system.ps1 -DryRun

# Clean everything
scripts/cleanup-system.ps1

Cleans:

  • Windows temporary files
  • Recycle Bin
  • Windows Update cache
  • npm/yarn/pnpm cache
  • Docker unused data
  • Windows.old (if present)
  • Prefetch files

Reports total space recovered.

Step 3: Install development tools
powershell
# Install everything
scripts/install-tools.ps1

# Install specific categories only
scripts/install-tools.ps1 -Scope dev # Git, Node, Python, VS Code
scripts/install-tools.ps1 -Scope tools # 7-Zip, Windows Terminal, Oh My Posh

The script checks if each tool is already installed before attempting. Uses winget as primary, falls back to scoop.

Step 4: Set up PowerShell profile

Copy the premium profile template:

powershell
# Install the premium profile
Copy-Item "~\\.config\\opencode\\skills\\windows-powershell\\assets\\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1" $PROFILE

# Reload profile
. $PROFILE

The profile includes:

  • Oh My Posh prompt with git status
  • PSReadLine with autocomplete and syntax highlighting
  • Git aliases: gst (status), ga (add), gc (commit), gp (push), gl (pull), gb (branch)
  • npm aliases: ni (install), nrd (run dev), nrb (run build), nt (test)
  • Docker aliases: dps (ps), dlog (logs), dstop (stop), drm (rm)
  • Utils: touch, which, ll (ls -la), mkcd (mkdir + cd), admin (runas admin)
Step 5: Schedule recurring maintenance
powershell
# Weekly cleanup every Sunday at 9 PM
schtasks /Create /SC WEEKLY /D SUN /TN "SystemCleanup" /TR "powershell.exe -File '~\\.config\\opencode\\skills\\windows-powershell\\scripts\\cleanup-system.ps1'" /ST 21:00 /RL HIGHEST

$ErrorActionPreference = "Stop"

# Pattern 3: $LASTEXITCODE for native commands
& python script.py
if ($LASTEXITCODE -ne 0) {
throw "Python script failed with exit code $LASTEXITCODE"
}

# Pattern 4: $? for PowerShell commands
Get-Item $path -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
if (-not $?) {
Write-Warning "Path not found, using default"
}

Questions about Windows Powershell

What does Windows Powershell do?

Windows 11 system administration with PowerShell — system info reporting, hardware monitoring, package management (winget/scoop), disk cleanup, performance optimization, environment configuration…. Windows Powershell is an agent skill from EliasOulkadi/shokunin. Windows 11 system administration with PowerShell — system info reporting, hardware monitoring, package management (winget/scoop), disk cleanup, performance optimization, environment configuration, PowerShell profile setup with aliases and autocomplete, and Task Scheduler automation.

When should I use Windows Powershell?

Windows Powershell fits situations like: user asks to check system info; install tools on Windows; clean up disk space; set up PowerShell profile.

How do I install Windows Powershell in Claude Code?

Run `npx skills add EliasOulkadi/shokunin --skill windows-powershell -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (.pack/skills/windows-powershell in EliasOulkadi/shokunin) into .claude/skills/windows-powershell in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.

How do I install Windows Powershell in Codex?

Run `npx skills add EliasOulkadi/shokunin --skill windows-powershell -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (.pack/skills/windows-powershell in EliasOulkadi/shokunin) into .agents/skills/windows-powershell in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.

Can I use Windows Powershell in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add EliasOulkadi/shokunin --skill windows-powershell -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/windows-powershell, .gemini/skills/windows-powershell, .github/skills/windows-powershell and .opencode/skills/windows-powershell in your project.

What does Windows Powershell need to run?

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Windows Powershell needs PowerShell for the scripts in its folder and the command-line tools its instructions call (node and winget). Our summary lists: Python 3; PowerShell; Docker. Its frontmatter pre-approves these tools: Read, Bash, Write. Compatibility (from SKILL.md): opencode.

Does Windows Powershell access the network?

SKILL.md names 1 domain. In commands or code: speedtest.url; the agent is likely to contact it when it follows the instructions. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Windows Powershell safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found notes only (pre-approves every shell command (allowed-tools: bash)), nothing it rates as a warning. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.

What licence does Windows Powershell use?

Windows Powershell is published under the MIT licence (declared in SKILL.md). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Windows Powershell use?

About 2.3k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 9.3k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 2.1k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.

What are the alternatives to Windows Powershell?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Windows Powershell: Openclaw Live Updater (openclaw/openclaw, 392k stars), Setup Osworld (xlang-ai/OSWorld-V2, 355 stars), Winui App (LanceMcCarthy/DevOpsExamples, 172 stars) and Syncmeta (pawurb/hotpath-rs, 1.9k stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.

Who maintains Windows Powershell?

EliasOulkadi (a GitHub user) maintains it in EliasOulkadi/shokunin, which has 114 GitHub stars. The repository holds 49 skills in this directory. The repository was last updated on October 5, 2026.
