What it does

Publicwww Search is an agent skill from duckduckgo/autoconsent. Search PublicWWW to find websites using specific HTML/JS/CSS snippets. Use this skill to check if a cookie popup is from a widespread third-party CMP, to find additional test URLs for a CMP rule, or to discover how many sites use a particular consent banner pattern.

Its SKILL.md is about 460 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. It is a single SKILL.md file with no bundled scripts.

The licence is MPL-2.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Check if a cookie popup is from a widespread third-party CMP
  • Find additional test URLs for a CMP rule
  • Discover how many sites use a particular consent banner pattern

Example prompts

  • “/publicwww-search”

Requirements

  • A credential in PUBLICWWW_KEY

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 1455151. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

    • curl

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

Hosts in commands or code, which the agent is likely to contact:

    • publicwww.com

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names these keys or tokens, usually read from environment variables:

    • PUBLICWWW_KEY

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Publicwww Search loads about 456 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 71 tokens; SKILL.md has 127 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~71
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~456

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

description
Search PublicWWW to find websites using specific HTML/JS/CSS snippets. Use this skill to check if a cookie popup is from a widespread third-party CMP, to find additional test URLs for a CMP rule, or to discover how many sites use a particular consent banner pattern.

Search website source code via the PublicWWW API. Requires PUBLICWWW_KEY env var.

Caveat: PublicWWW indexes server-rendered HTML source only. CMPs injected purely via client-side JavaScript (e.g. tag managers, async script loaders) may not appear in results.

API

Download search results as CSV:

https://publicwww.com/websites/SEARCH_QUERY/?export=csvsnippetsu&key=$PUBLICWWW_KEY

CSV format: url;rank;snippet (one site per line, sorted by popularity rank).

Use export=csv instead of csvsnippetsu to get domain;rank without snippets.

Query Syntax

  • Exact phrase: "onetrust-banner-sdk"
  • Combine terms: "cookie-banner" "reject-all"
  • Exclude: "cookie-banner" -wordpress
  • TLD filter: "sd-cmp" site:de
  • File type: "__cmp" filetype:js (also filetype:css)
  • Page depth: depth:all "math.min.js" (0–5, default homepage only)
  • Escape inner quotes: "data-testid=\"cookie-reject\""

Full syntax: https://publicwww.com/syntax.html

Examples

Check if a banner ID is from a shared CMP:

bash
curl -s "https://publicwww.com/websites/%22sd-cmp%22/?export=csv&key=$PUBLICWWW_KEY" | head -20

Find German sites using OneTrust:

bash
curl -s "https://publicwww.com/websites/%22onetrust-banner-sdk%22+site%3Ade/?export=csv&key=$PUBLICWWW_KEY" | head -10

Search JS files for a CMP API:

bash
curl -s "https://publicwww.com/js/%22__cmp%22+filetype%3Ajs/?export=csv&key=$PUBLICWWW_KEY" | head -10
