dbs-install-skillLinks a skill or a whole skill collection into every installed agent's directory, choosing a shared or per-client entry point automatically.
This skill writes every skill into one common agents directory that Codex, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Augment, Roo Code, OpenCode, and OpenHands all read, and only writes a client-specific symlink or Windows junction for the handful of hosts that still need their own directory, never both for the same skill.
It resolves a source skill from a name, a relative or absolute path, a collection directory, or the skill just discussed in the current conversation, then relies on its own bundled install script to create the links rather than improvising commands on the spot. Every run also cleans up redundant links, stale aliases, and broken links left by removed sources, without deleting the source skill itself or overwriting a real directory it finds in the way.
6 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit 8d3ed39. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Ships 2 files in scripts/ (Shell and PowerShell), which the agent can run.
From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.
No URLs in SKILL.md.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.
From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.
Cross-Agent Skill Installer loads about 1.1k tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 41 tokens; SKILL.md has 249 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); the scripts in this folder are not scanned.
Its licence (Custom licence) doesn't allow us to republish the file, so here is its outline and opening line. It has 249 words (~1,089 tokens).

Cross-Agent Skill Installer fits situations like: installing a skill into every AI agent on a machine; syncing a skill collection across multiple coding agents; removing stale skill links after moving or renaming a skill.
Run `npx skills add dontbesilent2025/dbskill --skill dbs-install-skill -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/dbs-install-skill in dontbesilent2025/dbskill) into .claude/skills/dbs-install-skill in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add dontbesilent2025/dbskill --skill dbs-install-skill -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/dbs-install-skill in dontbesilent2025/dbskill) into .agents/skills/dbs-install-skill in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add dontbesilent2025/dbskill --skill dbs-install-skill -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/dbs-install-skill, .gemini/skills/dbs-install-skill, .github/skills/dbs-install-skill and .opencode/skills/dbs-install-skill in your project.
Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Cross-Agent Skill Installer needs a shell and PowerShell for the scripts in its folder. Our summary lists: Bash on Unix-like systems, or PowerShell for the Windows junction script.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. The check reads SKILL.md only: the scripts in the folder are not scanned, so read them before running anything.
Cross-Agent Skill Installer has a licence file (the repository's licence) that doesn't match a standard licence. Read it on GitHub before reusing the skill.
About 1.1k tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 4.4k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
Skills that share tags, products or a category with Cross-Agent Skill Installer: Darwin Skill Optimizer (alchaincyf/darwin-skill, 6.2k stars), Using Agent Skills (addyosmani/agent-skills, 105k stars), Ponytail Help Card (DietrichGebert/ponytail, 160k stars) and Skill Creator (zhayujie/CowAgent, 47k stars).
