What it does

Trace Distributed Request Causality is an agent skill from cyberful/cyberful. Reconstruct request and event causality across gateways, services, queues, workers, data stores, and external providers while preserving identity, tenant, authorization, retry, and side-effect evidence. Use for distributed security dataflow and incident reconstruction.

Its SKILL.md is about 620 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 4 other files, including reference files (for example `agents/openai.yaml` and `references/distributed-causality-ledger.md`).

It sits in Security. The repository describes itself as: Cyberful is an open-source AI Red Team for discovering, exploiting, verifying, and remediating vulnerabilities. The licence is AGPL-3.0.

Example prompts

  • “/trace-distributed-request-causality”

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ec598a6. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Trace Distributed Request Causality loads about 617 tokens when it runs, and up to ~996 if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 76 tokens; SKILL.md has 197 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~76
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~617
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~996

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Trace Distributed Request Causality

Reconstruct a directed evidence graph, not a timestamp-sorted story. Each edge must state why one event caused, forwarded, retried, derived, or observed another, and which evidence supports that relation.

Read distributed-causality-ledger.md when correlating identifiers, clocks, retries, queues, or partial evidence.

Build the graph

Start from a known request, message, state transition, or side effect. Collect gateway and service spans, structured logs, message metadata, database audit records, job history, provider callbacks, and client evidence. Normalize clocks and preserve original timestamps plus uncertainty.

For every node record actor, tenant, credential or delegation reference, operation, object, policy decision, trace/span/request/message/idempotency identifiers, retry attempt, state before/after, and evidence pointer. Label inferred edges explicitly and state the competing explanation.

Locate security discontinuities

Identify where identity, tenant, scopes, object binding, policy decision, canonical input, idempotency, or trace context changes or disappears. Separate duplicate observation from duplicate execution and upstream timeout from downstream rollback or continued work.

Deliver the minimal causal chain supporting the security conclusion, unresolved gaps, confidence per edge, and the next discriminating artifact. Use trace-identity-propagation or trace-tenant-context-propagation when that single context is the primary question; use this skill when multiple services and async edges must be reconciled together.
