What it does

Test Exposed Services is an agent skill from cyberful/cyberful. Assess externally or internally reachable services, administrative planes, debug interfaces, data stores, search clusters, object storage, orphaned DNS, and deployment exposure during authorized penetration tests or code audits. Use for unintended service exposure, subdomain takeover, Elasticsearch or database access, admin consoles, debug endpoints, default deployments, cloud buckets, management APIs, and network-boundary validation.

Its SKILL.md is about 870 tokens, which your agent loads only when the skill is triggered. The skill folder holds 5 other files, including reference files (for example `agents/openai.yaml`, `references/datastores-admin.md` and `references/exposure-inventory.md`).

It sits in DevOps & Cloud, covering Deployment, File uploads and storage and Search implementation. It works with Elasticsearch. The repository describes itself as: Cyberful is an open-source AI Red Team for discovering, exploiting, verifying, and remediating vulnerabilities. The licence is AGPL-3.0.

When your agent uses it

  • Unintended service exposure
  • Subdomain takeover
  • Database access
  • Debug endpoints

Workflow steps

5 steps, taken from the first numbered list in SKILL.md.

  1. confirm DNS and network reach from the relevant attacker position;
  2. identify TLS identity, virtual host, protocol, and product without disruptive probing;
  3. test whether authentication is required and enforced on every capability;
  4. distinguish anonymous metadata from data read, data write, code execution, or control-plane action;
  5. correlate with intended architecture and environment.

What it can do on your machine

Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit ec598a6. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.

  • Tool permissions

    Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

    From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.

  • Runs code

    No scripts in the folder and no shell commands in SKILL.md.

    From the folder's file list and the shell code blocks in SKILL.md.

  • Network

    No URLs in SKILL.md.

    From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.

  • Credentials

    Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

    From names ending in _API_KEY, _TOKEN, _SECRET, _KEY or _PASSWORD in SKILL.md.

Context cost

Test Exposed Services loads about 866 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 115 tokens; SKILL.md has 303 words of instructions outside code blocks.

Always · name and description, kept in context so the agent knows when to use it
~115
When it runs · the whole SKILL.md, loaded when a task matches
~866
With references · SKILL.md plus every file in references/, read only if the agent opens them
~2k

Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.

Safety

Auto-check passed

The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.

Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Test Exposed Services

Build an Exposure Graph

Correlate DNS, certificates, network listeners, reverse-proxy routes, service discovery, cloud inventory, infrastructure code, deployment manifests, application links, source configuration, and historical names. Represent each service as owner, environment, network reach, protocol, authentication, tenant context, data or action capability, and lifecycle status.

Do not stop at an open port. Identify the deployed product or custom protocol, access path, security boundary, and business impact.

Read exposure-inventory.md for discovery and ownership. Read datastores-admin.md for management and data-plane review.

Validate Reach and Boundary

For each candidate:

  1. confirm DNS and network reach from the relevant attacker position;
  2. identify TLS identity, virtual host, protocol, and product without disruptive probing;
  3. test whether authentication is required and enforced on every capability;
  4. distinguish anonymous metadata from data read, data write, code execution, or control-plane action;
  5. correlate with intended architecture and environment.

Check alternate ports, hostnames, IPv6, direct origin IPs, legacy protocols, health routes, metrics, debug handlers, and management interfaces that bypass the public gateway.

Test Lifecycle Failures

Trace decommissioning of domains, cloud resources, SaaS custom domains, storage, load balancers, and preview environments. For takeover candidates, establish that the external provider resource is unclaimed and bindable under the current provider behavior. A dangling DNS record alone is a candidate, not proof.

Review Data Services

For search, database, cache, queue, registry, storage, and observability services, evaluate anonymous access, network ACLs, authentication, tenant isolation, dangerous administrative APIs, script or plugin capabilities, snapshot and backup access, and credential reuse.

Use read-only metadata or tester-owned records for confirmation when they prove the boundary. Record whether the exposed service trusts source network or proxy-injected identity.

Report Capability, Not Banner

Document reachable path, service identity, authentication and authorization state, exposed capability, data classification, environmental role, and ownership. Separate inventory hygiene, information disclosure, data-plane compromise, and control-plane compromise.

Can I use Test Exposed Services in Cursor, Gemini CLI or GitHub Copilot?

Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add cyberful/cyberful --skill test-exposed-services -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/test-exposed-services, .gemini/skills/test-exposed-services, .github/skills/test-exposed-services and .opencode/skills/test-exposed-services in your project.

What does Test Exposed Services need to run?

SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: Test Exposed Services is instructions for the agent only.

Does Test Exposed Services access the network?

SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.

Is Test Exposed Services safe to install?

Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.

What licence does Test Exposed Services use?

Test Exposed Services is published under the AGPL-3.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.

How many tokens does Test Exposed Services use?

About 866 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.5k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 1.1k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.

What are the alternatives to Test Exposed Services?

Skills that share tags, products or a category with Test Exposed Services: Rolecard Workshop Ops (LiarMTTT/TavernWeave, 153 stars), Cloud Provisioning (elastic/agent-skills, 592 stars), Implementing Log Forwarding With Fluentd (mukul975/Anthropic-Cybersecurity-Skills, 34k stars) and Monstermq Broker Config (vogler75/monster-mq, 143 stars). The comparison table on this page puts their stars, adoption, token cost, safety result and licence side by side.
