local-devStarts, rebuilds, and troubleshoots the Opik local dev stack, including an optional Comet Platform integration mode for the Opik team.
This skill uses a single dev-runner script that handles full restarts, daily starts without rebuilding, stopping everything, and backend-only restarts for faster iteration, serving the frontend on one local port in standard mode and a different port in backend-only mode, with the backend API and its health check on a fixed port.
An opt-in Platform mode, off by default, runs the Comet EM/Platform stack alongside Opik behind a single-origin nginx proxy for Opik-team members only, auto-detecting sibling comet-backend and comet-react checkouts and building comet-backend under a detected JDK 17 or 21 while Opik itself stays on JDK 25. Troubleshooting commands cover verifying the stack, checking for a port conflict, and a clean stop-then-restart.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit f217a86. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.
From allowed-tools in the SKILL.md frontmatter.
Shell commands in SKILL.md call:

No URLs in SKILL.md. Its commands use docker and npm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called.
From URLs in SKILL.md, links to its own repository left out.
Names no API keys, tokens, secrets or passwords.

Opik Local Dev Environment loads about 734 tokens when it runs. Until then it costs about 30 tokens; SKILL.md has 124 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

Going by SKILL.md and its folder, Opik Local Dev Environment needs the command-line tools its instructions call (docker, mvn and npm). Our summary lists: Docker; JDK 17/21 for Platform mode, JDK 25 for Opik.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Its commands use docker and npm, which can reach the network depending on how they are called. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
Opik Local Dev Environment is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 734 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 2.9k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full.
