cccSemantic code search and index management with the ccc CLI: the agent initializes, indexes and queries the project by concept, filtering by language or path.
ccc is the command line for CocoIndex Code, giving the agent semantic search over the current codebase plus index management. The agent owns the whole lifecycle, so it does not ask you to run steps. If a search or index command fails because the project is not initialized, it runs `ccc init` from the project root, then `ccc index`, and retries. It refreshes the index at the start of a session or after significant changes such as new files, refactors or renamed modules, but not between consecutive searches when no code changed.
Queries should describe a concept, function or behavior rather than exact syntax, for example database connection pooling or error handling retry logic. Results can be limited by language with repeated `--lang` flags, by a glob with `--path` (the default is the current directory), and paged with `--offset` and `--limit`. The agent never runs `ccc init` in the settings directory, usually your home folder, and leaves `ccc reset` to you. Installation, management and settings details are in two reference files; the excerpt is cut off after pagination.
Read from SKILL.md and the folder at commit b883be0. It shows what the files ask for, not the result of running them.
Pre-approves nothing: there is no allowed-tools line, so your agent's usual permission prompts apply.

ccc Semantic Code Search loads about 938 tokens when it runs, and up to ~2.9k if it reads all its reference files. Until then it costs about 88 tokens; SKILL.md has 436 words of instructions outside code blocks.
Estimates: characters ÷ 4, the usual rule of thumb; real counts depend on the model's tokenizer. Scripts and assets cost tokens only if the agent reads them.
The automated check found no risky patterns in SKILL.md.
Automated static check — not a guarantee. Review scripts before installing. It scans the text of SKILL.md for risky patterns (piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files, hidden Unicode, destructive commands); files beside SKILL.md are not scanned.

The agent owns the ccc lifecycle for the current project — initialization, indexing, and searching. Do not ask the user to perform these steps; handle them automatically.
ccc search or ccc index fails with an initialization error (e.g., "Not in an initialized project directory"), run ccc init from the project root directory, then ccc index to build the index, then retry the original command.ccc index refuses because the directory holds ccc's user settings directory (usually your home directory), do not run ccc init there. Run ccc from inside the project instead, or ask the user which project to use.ccc reset there yourself: whether it should stay a project is the user's call.ccc index (or ccc search --refresh) when the index may be stale — e.g., at the start of a session, or after making significant code changes (new files, refactors, renamed modules). There is no need to re-index between consecutive searches if no code was changed in between.ccc itself is not found (command not found), refer to management.md for installation instructions and inform the user.To perform a semantic search:
ccc search <query terms>The query should describe the concept, functionality, or behavior to find, not exact code syntax. For example:
ccc search database connection pooling
ccc search user authentication flow
ccc search error handling retry logicBy language (--lang, repeatable): restrict results to specific languages.
ccc search --lang python --lang markdown database schemaBy path (--path): restrict results to a glob pattern relative to project root. If omitted, defaults to the current working directory (only results under that subdirectory are returned).
ccc search --path 'src/api/*' request validationResults default to the first page. To retrieve additional results:
ccc search --offset 5 --limit 5 database schemaIf all returned results look relevant, use --offset to fetch the next page — there are likely more useful matches beyond the first page.
Search results include file paths and line ranges. To explore a result in more detail:
Read tool) to load the matched file and read lines around the returned range for full context.sed -n '<start>,<end>p' <file> to extract a specific line range. To view or edit embedding model configuration, include/exclude patterns, or language overrides, see settings.md.

Run `npx skills add cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code --skill ccc -a claude-code`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ccc in cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code) into .claude/skills/ccc in your project. Claude Code loads it when a task matches its description.
Run `npx skills add cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code --skill ccc -a codex`. Or copy the skill folder (skills/ccc in cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code) into .agents/skills/ccc in your project. Codex loads it when a task matches its description.
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and OpenCode also load SKILL.md folders. With the skills CLI, run `npx skills add cocoindex-io/cocoindex-code --skill ccc -a cursor` (or -a gemini-cli, github-copilot or opencode for the others). To copy it by hand, put the folder in .cursor/skills/ccc, .gemini/skills/ccc, .github/skills/ccc and .opencode/skills/ccc in your project.
SKILL.md names no scripts, command-line tools or credentials: ccc Semantic Code Search is instructions for the agent only. Our summary lists: The ccc CLI (CocoIndex Code), installed as described in references/management.md.
SKILL.md contains no URLs. Any network use would come from the scripts or tools the agent runs. This is read from the text; nothing was executed.
Our automated static check of SKILL.md found no risky patterns, such as piping downloads into a shell, reading credential files or hidden Unicode. It is not a guarantee. Review the folder before installing.
ccc Semantic Code Search is published under the Apache-2.0 licence (the repository's licence). It allows redistribution, so the full SKILL.md is shown on this page.
About 938 tokens (SKILL.md is roughly 3.8k characters). Agents keep only the skill's name and description in context until a task matches; then they load SKILL.md in full. Its references folder adds about 2k tokens, read only when the agent opens those files.
